Does anyone know of a legitimate way to make money using the internet? I've been searching for an online way to make a little bit of extra money, but it seems like all of the online opportunities pay you mere pennies for the hours you'd spend online. I've also thought of another business opportunity for myself that involves creating a product and selling it, but it would take some work and ingenuity to get it started up, and who wants to do actual work and thinking!? :roll

Are you still in China? If so, my friend's job wouldn't work, she works at home selling discount medical plans and does quite well at it.

Another friend of mine has an embroidery machine and does towels and other gifts from home although she hasn't been lately as she's moved and things. She still has a website though.

I do cakes from home, of course...

And then there's always Avon....

What are you thinking about?

One business opportunity that is growing is making wedding and party favors and invitations.....

I know a business that does handwritten calligraphy with real ink . Seem that alot of poeple will pay them alot of money to do that. I wanted to that, but my hands are too jittery for it.

Many people go for the idea of passive income, but it's really hard to do. I have about 50 domains and many of them set up with Google ads. I have two article directories that I load articles into every day or so. One make about $5 a week on, the other I hardly make anything on, and they have almost the same content.

I have a few homeschool sites that do better, but the traffic on them is no where near where it should be, because I haven't had time to devote to them.I get about $4 a week on those, combined.

My average on all my adsense sites is about $35 a week.

I also have text-ad-links on several sites and get around $30 a month off that.

I sell links on several sites, and get $30 a month off that. That's much harder to now because Google will downgrade your site if they suspect you are doing it.

Some people set up amazon affiliate sites. I tried to help my wife do that, but she's a terrible procrastinator and never would work on it. There are free scripts out there to help you set up an entire site that sells amazon.com stuff. (http://www.associate-o-matic.com/ is one here's a description of it)

The thing is, you either have a lot of work or a lot of money up front. If you're willing to put in the work to build a site (and a good part of that work is studying to find which methods are the most effective) then it'll pay off eventually, but it won't right away.

I haven't done real well on Google adsense...I guess because the way my site is, people are there for one reason only....and not to click ads. I have been on there around two years and have only gotten one check so far.

It's almost impossible to make any real money on adsense with just one site. Diversify and focus. Get ands on a diverse amount of sites, but make sure each site focuses tightly on a well paying topic.

True...on the other hand, you usually have to pay for those websites....so the profit is small. But I agree it can be done the right way! I don't think a mom would have time to keep up them all!

If I could get into the html on my urticaria forum I might get extra adsense but I can't get the people to change the coding or act like they have a clue about what I'm talking about...I"ve been trying to get it able to accept bots and they claim it already does, or that they have no clue what my problem is. :roll I do have adsense on my blog as well. I don't keep up with my blog too good though.

Well, my little business idea came to me just a few months ago when I was looking for maternity skirts. I found that there are very few long skirts to choose from, and then if you do find one, it's fairly expensive and often not all that nice. I have some sewing skills and am able to create things to a certain extent, so I thought of maybe trying to come up with a maternity skirt or a few maternity skirts that I could make that would be somewhat simple and inexpensive (some fabrics here in China are very inexpensive) and then sell them on Ebay or some site like that. I am worried that shipping would be too expensive from here though. Another idea along the same lines would be for me to find a Chinese tailor and work with that person to do the buying of material and sewing of the skirts for me for cheap and then selling those skirts online. I'm just not sure how to get this all started, and I feel like I need to wrap up many other loose ends of unfinished projects in my life first before taking on something else. Everywhere I look in our home, I see things that need mending or fixing or creating or organizing, etc... I hate unfinished projects, but they seem to be the bane of my existence. :roll

Some people have good success finding a "need" like that and filling it! I had the same problem with maternity skirts as well...

And really, you never have "time" for a side business...but if you need the money, sometimes you just have to put a household chore or two on hold while you make the extra money...its kind of like you have to choose your priorities, because you can't do everything.

No, if you're willing to substitute time for money it can be very inexpensive. A reseller hosting account can be as little as $25 to $35 a month. Domains are about $10 a year. You can put an unlimited number of domains on a reseller account, as long as you still have the disk space and bandwidth. While I have two hosting accounts, it's only because my main one doesn't allow topsites, so I had to get a second. Even with one domain, you can use subdomains (for example http://homeschooling.4theclueless.com) so you can have multiple sites on one domain.

I was just saying that a guy might have more time for that than a mom.

I do a business, but its more profit per hour than something online would be, at least for me, especially as I'm not as good at web building as some here. My hours spent working from home (thus away from housecleaning and sometimes the kids) are worth more $$$ than hours spent on the computer (although I do that too, communicating with clients and sometimes updating the website and stuff.)

That sounds like a great idea, Katie! If you get this idea to work somehow, you should put together a website for it. You could start by advertising on IFB sites and also try to find a way to spread the word to women from other denominations, too (since IFBs aren't the only ones concerned about modesty...).

Who knows... maybe you'll have some of these skirts made by the time I get pregnant (whenever that happens) and I'll be able to buy some of them from you. :cool
