This afternoon about 2:30 PM, about 3 to 4 miles west of us there was a shooting, a man and woman injured, woman shot in the elbow, man shot in lower part of body, the man may have had to be air lifted to a Texarkana Hospital.

Seems the fellow who did this was out of jail or prison on furlough. I think the fellow who did the shooting has connections with the people for the police had to go to this same house yesterday because of some type of trouble.

When we came home from church we drove over that way, seems this man is still has not been caught, last we heard he was seen running thru and open field.

We have the doors locked, the guns loaded, for this man will probably be desperate for he knows he will automatically go back to jail & or prison with many more years added on.

Seems the bad people in this world just keep on doing bad things, there is just no end to what they will do.

Inmate on furlough sought in shooting of 2

http://www.ksla.com/Global/story.asp?S=9048096

This part of Arkansas is not sue to all of this, but here in the past few years it seems to be happening way to much. At least they were not killed.

I'm just not a fan of prisoners being out of a furlough.

Amazing at the traffic on our highway at 12:50 AM in the morning.

About 11:00 PM our daughter drove by the place where it happened and said they are police cars parked everywhere with 30 or more standing around.

Since that time they have been some trucks pulling horse trailers with blue lights flashing going that way plus a couple of helicopters, understand they're using that night time searching equipment.

I found out more about the shooting incident.

Friday this mans wife picks him up at prison for a weekend furlough. Saturday morning the Sheriffs office gets a call from this man's wife, some kind of trouble. At least 2 deputy Sheriffs go to the house, this man flees and runs across the pastor, this mans wife and her boyfriend are at the house. I understand the 2 Deputy Sheriffs leaves with out talking to him although he ran from them and they saw him enter the woods across the pasture.

Sunday afternoon a bit after 3:30 PM they get a call, his wife and his wife's boyfriend have been shot. This woman's boyfriend was shot 2 times once in the mouth, once in the groin and he did have to be air lifted and shall have to have some surgery when he has recovered and gained strength back.

This morning they founded the furlough prisoner dead about 1/2 mile from this house out in the woods.

Makes on wonder why they did not pursue him Saturday morning, might have save 2 people from getting shot and this man from killing his self.

But that said it sounds like he didn't have much of a wife. But when people live in sin, it causes much trouble.

The murders of 2 elderly people that happened close by here a long time back came about perhaps from the sheriffs department failure too. They got a call where the one who did the killing was staying, the sheriffs deputy stopped in front of the place in the middle of the gravel road, shined his light at the front of the house a bit after 12:30 AM never getting out of his car. They had warrants for his arrest for car theft, them just a few hours later, probably at day break he murders 2 people. If they had gotten out of the car they could have arrested him and the murders would not have taken place.

Makes one wonder how many other people may have died because police are just a bit to lazy to do their job.

Interesting...in the 2 years I've been here, I've noticed a huge difference in how local police work here compared to where I lived the first 45 years of my life in northern IL. Things with the police down here seem a little too laid-back compared to what I'm used to. And I live in a community of 45,000 here.

Also seems to be alot more corruption down here even in the smaller police departments/sheriff's departments (ie. Cherokee Co, KS).

However, this is only my perception and I could be wrong. Maybe I lived too long in the north.

This prisoner had broken down the front door of this house, when the deputy sheriff pulled up he took of running. I just fail to see how they could watch him run across the pasture after having broken a front door knowing that he was on furlough for the weekend from prison.

The reason I know this I was listening to the on a scanner and one deputy told the other one, I was out here yesterday for him, called his name, for breaking down the front door and the last we saw him, he was running across the pasture.

I think its just pure laziness. Why get out and chase someone down if you don't have to" Isn't it much easier just to drive up and down the highways and byways? Doing the latter you don't get dirty and sweaty.

Several years back we had a deputy sheriff wreck his deputy sheriff car, he was DUI, but nothing came of it.

Another one shot a mans house and pickup from the highway, the fellow in the house called the sheriff department telling them some one was shooting his house with a shotgun.

A deputy came out and found one of their deputies parked in the road drunk and shooting a shotgun, just having a good old time, said he was shooting at some deer that kept jumping out in front of him. This man is now the chief deputy. :uuhm:

The sheriff department did pay for fixing the holes in the mans house and pickup.
