Again' date=' I have read some of your financial posts in the past, and I'm not sure why you are a professional on financial advice??? I'm not trying to be nasty, but you are telling other people to do things "in God's name" when your finances aren't so hot yourself...ya know? Just sayin'..... :hide[/quote']

I am trying to figure out what posts you are talking about. Our finances are in great shape. I may not be making a lot but we have no debt and our needs are being supplied. I don't consider myself to be an "expert" on finances. When it comes to advice, I try to go by the scriptures and there are many scriptures that speak out against the modern fad called "retirement."

Really...what every Christian does with their own money (which God has given to them) is their business. People always talk about what they could have done...yadda, yadda...after the fact. It sounds great, yeah. Although, we never know if that would have happened or not. You know? Hindsight.

My grandpa used to say..."The more money a man makes...the more money he spends." This was coming from a man who lost everything in the Stock Market crash in 1929. He also lost the family house. The man was a doctor prior to 1929...and, lost it all. He kept the money tucked away...not knowing the outcome. They were cautious people that fell on hard times...like many at that time. They made due after that. He put a suit on...went out the door, and found work selling medical supplies and equipment after that. The Lord took care of my grandpa and his family. To my knowledge...they weren't saved. So...imagine what God will do for His children? :smile

Philippians 4:19...But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. KJV 1611 AV.

I had an idea that you would throw something like this in my face. That discussion was 6 months ago.

You asked....

I'm really not trying to be mean...but if you use gov't assistance, who are you to condemn those who save up retirement?

Again...it is really up to an indivdual person what they do with the money that God has blessed them with.

As far as the poor? A phrase that my grandma used to say: "I cried because I had no shoes...until I met a man that had no feet."

As it has been stated...we still aren't doing as poorly as these 3rd World countries...yet. You know?

Sometimes saving up for retirement helps. If you don't understand, go ask your parents to live with you for free while you feed and shelter your own family.

but anyway, believe it or not, your house is an retirement investment. When you go to a nursing home, the first thing they will ask you to do is sell your house to help pay for the nursing home...
