What are the top ten character traits we Christians should be concerned about?

If you wish, please share successes you have had in changing bad character traits to good ones or what you are doing now in this area.

I'm not so good on changing character traits though so I'll pass on that part of the question....haha...

Charity and love

1 Corinthians 13 and Gal.5

True love and charity (love in action) will give you a lot of the other character traits that are important in a Christian's life.

Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.


Good point by Rachel...Jesus said the two "laws" were to love God, and love your neighbor, and everything else would fall into place.

What I'm looking for are ten character traits and how one might set out to develop or improve these.

Say like one is setting these down as goals for their life to help them become the person they want to be. What ten character traits would we put on the list?

Its just that the Bible sets them out clearly, although not ten in a row. Another good passage is this:

I love what the Proverbs say...Character Traits that we shouldn't have:

Proverbs 6:11-19...11 So shall thy poverty come as one (a prowler) that travelleth, and thy want (need) as an armed man. 12 A naughty (worthless man) person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. 13 He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers; 14 Frowardness (Perversity) is in his heart, and he deviseth mischief (evil) continually; he soweth discord. 15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall be broken without remedy. 16 These six things doth the LORD hate; yea, seven are an abomination unto him: (his soul) 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood. 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. V.17...Doesn't this sound like our politicians??? Pushing continual murdering of the unborn on the American public. :sad Hmmm?

I think humility would be a good one to add to the list. Pride can really bring problems to a persons life.

Yes...because "Pride" can be used in the wrong way...even if it is intended for good purposes. You have to watch the flesh all the time. :pray
