Yes, but salvation of your soul depends on true REPENTANCE (ie - to turn away from sin) rather than the Catholic version of PENNANCE which is not scriptural!

A person who is saved does not go out and live like the devil and then claim that he has been "saved" and it is all okay because grace is God's life-insurance plan! Once a person is truly saved, their heart is changed - they do not WANT to sin anymore - they are pricked in their hearts when they commit sin, and will do everything that they can possibly do to get right with God.

Ah, so I have to keep keeping myself saved by continuing to practice repentance?

No, if you are truly saved, you are given a new heart - you are not saved by anything that you do or do not do - that is grace. Your new heart and the guidance of the Holy Spirit will make you want to become a Christ Follower. I would like to share with you some of my favorite verses in the Bible that explains this far better than I can...

Ephesians 2
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Acts 17
27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

Galatians 5
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

I don't think that we just confess our sins once, 28 years ago in my case, and never ever have to confess our sins again - not if we want to walk in Jesus' footsteps we don't. Our salvation no longer hinges on this confession, but our spiritual closeness to God depends on it. God even EXPECTS us to come to Him we we have done wrong - that is why he sent Jesus to us - to be our mediator. I mess up all the time, more thanI would like to admit, but when I mess up I tell God about it and REPENT of that sin (I do not just keep on doing it over and over if I can help it!). God will not let you keep wallowing in sin, you will be the most miserable creature alive because the Holy Spirit will not leave you alone until to give in and get right again. Take it from me I KNOW! :cool

1 John 1
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another

I see this on the news around Easter each year. Fox News always shows this happening in the Phillipines.

Yes, John. Our missionaries from the Philippines talk about it. I have seen pictures of those poor people. It breaks my heart.

Why is Roman Catholicism Mexico's main religion?

Because they came, killed, raped, robbed, then brainwashed and forced them to convert in exchange for food, medicine, education, human rights, and weapons.

The RCC has told the Mexican people that they are too stupid to understand the Bible. How sad.

trc123, tone down the sarcasm please. You have been doing this lately in multiple threads and it is uncalled for. Enough is enough.

I believe that God is dealing with trc123 Bro Seth - at least that is how I see those snarky posts - it isn't me he is angry at, he is angry at God. :bible:

I will just keep praying for him! :pray

I hate to admit this but, this sinful and saved by the blood of the crucified one is still sinful in this human vessel! Remember, it is ALL OF GRACE!

Hey, trc...you aren't in the RCC. So, this doesn't apply to you. The RCC as you know...is a "works based" religion.

Any faith that doesn't teach "salvation by faith in JC" is going to send people to hell. Now, I have known many RCC people to get saved outside of the RCC...but still remain in the RCC for whatever reason. That is a much different story.

YES!! When Jesus saves our souls we do a turn around, but not completely a 360 degree turn. How could we? We are sinners saved by grace. :amen: Our fleshly nature is still with us...until we reach heaven. We are always going to be "battling the flesh" until we reach heaven. God is the potter...and we are the clay. :smile Molding and shaping us to His son's image.

I'm not angry with you or God........Seth is absolutely right, I've been a bit sarcastic...........sometimes that is necessary to prompt people to think about what they are saying (or rather posting).

Seth, I'll "tone it down" as you request out of respect.

Just remember folks, Christ's work on the cross is ALL OF GRACE! There is no good work you could do to earn his favor for salvation, it is all the Lord Jesus Christ sacrificial offering and intercession.....and there is nothing you can do to continue in his favor, it is ALL OF GRACE! We are saved and kept ALL OF GRACE!

Peace! TRC

Candlelight, I was an altar boy and devotee in the RCC...then I heard the Gospel preached by a Tennessee country preacher in a missionary IFB church in Japan and was born-again. While we in IFB churches sometimes ridicule the RCC devotees for their traditions and works based "faith" there are plenty of IFB devotees who have their own version!

Peace! Again............TRC

I don't think anyone here was arguing that. Repentance is not a work, it is a condition of the heart.

TRC, I am a Rescued Roman Catholic too! I went against my whole family to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior - and I have not looked back! We are not ridiculing anyone - just pointing out the absurdities of their false teachings.

Oh...my 2 brothers were altar boys. We have some hilarious family stories with those 2 being up on the altar together. They are practically, Irish twins. LOL.

:amen: for that Tennessee country preacher! I know you have been saved for years.

BTW, check out my pastor's sermon when it gets on-line from this AM. My brother was at our church in SS, and for the AM service. He is seeking Jesus Christ. He loves our church...b/c my pastor is :cool I pray that God will bring him back. It took me a long time to get saved. So...we will see what the Lord does with Larry? You know how it is to have lost family members. We were once in that boat, too.

Peace to you...as well. :thumb

:goodpost::amen: Seth! The Lord Jesus deals with me on plenty of things all the time. I ask Him to chastise me when I am out of line. I need that!

I did, too IM. My mom is the "nucleus" of our family. She had to talk with all of us, individually...after that. God says in His Word that dealing with lost family...is the most difficult after you become "born again." With my brother's tragedy---I believe that healing is taking place in my family. :pray
