I see, at least among the secular society, a double standard. It seems to be ok for a woman to frequent the mall with her top nearly exposed, but let a young man wear his britches too low, (so that his underwear show) and watch out, the place is all up in arms. With summer coming on, we will see a lot of exposure. I am sure, but why is one ok, and not the other?
I hope this is not the Christian's attitude too!

Because that's the world we live in.....
but wait.........
I've often wondered why it's expected to see a man covered from his shoes to a tie in church, but women get away with coming to church with long slits in their skirts and their cleavage showing. It's there every week at my church.

Another one I often see, many will say that everyone ought to be in church on Sunday morning, yet right after church they go eat at a restaurant and or to stores to buy some goods. Hypocrites.

Why not do our buying on other days, of course, everyone knows an emergency may come up, yet many things bought on Sunday by Christians could be done without till Monday. And on Sunday eat at home. I remember growing up mother did her cooking Saturday night, and we had some wonderful Sunday dinners.

Why? Sunday is not the Sabbath, nor do the rules for the Sabbath apply to Sunday. Now if someone wants to treat Sunday as a day of rest nothing wrong with that, but Christians biblically have liberty to observe the Sabbath or a Sabbath like day or not as they choose. Christians are not supposed to "forsake" assembling together, but there is no prohibition against working on Sunday in the NT like there was against working on the Sabbath in the OT.

"Colossians 2:16-17 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ."

Thanks to radical feminists it's politcally incorrect to tell a woman how she should dress. This view has infiltrated the churches which is why so many pastors and elders fear to speak out on such issues. I've been shocked and embarassed by what I've seen some women wearing in churches.

It's also true that with warmer weather coming the skimpy attire is returning. Just the other day I saw a guy walk into the fast food place with two women wearing very tight tops and very short shorts. At the counter the women began talking about their breasts and the guy turned around and actually started touching them! The women just giggled and asked him who's he liked best. I'm so glad none of my children were there.

I actually no longer look forward to warmer weather because of the near nudity of women that will be seen in nearly every store and walking in the parks.

Jesus set a great example for attending public worship. One could not follow no better example. Besides.

Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

I wasn't questioning attending church, I was questioning why going to a store or eating at a restaurant after church services on Sunday would make someone a hypocrite. Only way I could see that is if one was of the opinion that OT sabbath laws now apply to Sunday in the NT.

I have often wondered the very same thing. Not just in church but on the street as well. Why is it considered strange that a man would wear a shirt unbuttoned to the middle of his chest, but it is common to see a woman whose top is that low. I blush to even say such a thing. Why am I considered strange because I cover myself from the top of my collarbone to my ankle but every man in the office where I work wears collars that reach to the top of their collarbone, and pants that reach to their ankles. Such a strange world we live in.

I too do not look forward to warmer weather for this very same reason. We are already in the 90's here, and I have begun to see women wearing their tight capri pants and spaghetti-strap tops.

Warm temperature is no excuse to abandon modesty and propriety. If you wear natural fibers that breathe (cotton and linen) and you wear clothes that are a bit loose fitting so your skin can breathe, you can be comfortable in warm weather. Few of us live and work in environments where there is no air conditioning.

Other than coats and such, I dress nearly the same in summer as I do in winter. Many men do so I really see no excuse as to why women think they must wear next to nothing. I also don't understand the idea that women must have nearly their entire body tanned (more like baked!) in the sun.

I don't understand why most women want to show what only their husbands should see and why so many men like and go along with their wives and daughters dressing that way.

At a funeral services several years back, standing by the casket as the people passed by leaving the church house, I saw a sight I thought was unbelievable.

A man passed by, his shirt was unbuttoned to the waist, pulled apart showing his whole chest, shirt tail tucked in.

At the grave yard I quickly checked out every man, sure enough, he was at the grave yard, his shirt still unbuttoned as before. Its just beyond my understanding.

I'm guess I'm just an old fogey and I'm proud of it.

I did ask someone about him, he was distance kin to the deceased and none of them had seen him for many years, they were just as perplexed as I was.

I share your sentiment. I do not think that the daughters of Christ should display themselves like goods on display at a market.

I too dress essentially the same in summer as in winter. I did make some lighter-weight jackets that I made for summer wear, and some heavier-weight wool jackets for winter, but I wear the same skirts year-round.

Jerry, seeing a man dressed that way at a funeral must have been distracting in the extreme, and certainly showed a profound amount of disrespect to the family and the memory of the deceased.

I was encouraged today to see two young girls, one with beautfiul red hair to her mid-back, the other with beautiful blond hair to her waist, both wearing very pretty, totally modest dresses which covered them nicely from neck to ankle. What a joy to see!

While the trend is to see girls with boyish haircuts wearing jeans or shorts and t-shirts or less, it's such a blessing to see two young girls proving how much nicer girls look in dresses rather than dressed like boys and how much a blessing it is to have biblically long hair. Not only did the girls look nice, they looked nice wearing MODEST dresses, not the show-it-all, barely there dresses which seem to be about the only kind most women even consider wearing these days.

What a blessing to see males appearing as biblical males and females appearing as biblical females!

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly. It is a blessing to be able to go to church and be surrounded by like-minded ladies, to not "stick out like a sore thumb". It is a relief to be surrounded by men who dress like men and women who dress (and act) like ladies. It is a great weariness, sometimes, to live and work in the world. I am *so very thankful* to have found my wonderful church that is truly an oasis in a dry and thirsty land.

:amen: I always look forward to church and am very thankful for our church home! It amazes me how so many professing Christians view church as a drudgery, an interruption to their scheduels, something to get done and over with. Like you, I see time at church as that "oasis in a dry and thirsty land"!
