I'm sure many of you have heard about the California school that sent kids home from school because they had on American Flag apparel on Cinco de Mayo. This was done after complaints that t-shirts worn by them were provocative and deemed incendiary.
America is a melting pot and should remain that way. I'm proud to be an American and I am proud that our nation is made up of all races and cultures. I love watching people get their american citizenship. We have prOBlems at the borders of this country and they are not there to keep people in, but rather to keep people out. Every time I see the American Flag it reminds me of the opportunity that it gave millions of people to live a better life. My Grandmother and Grandfather both left their lands to a better life in the USA.

In Waterbury, Ct. we have this guy named "Ziggy" (Even has a fan club on Facebook) who is always waving an american flag on street corners across our City. Ziggy even came to our church a few times in his American Flag Pants (See facebook pic). Why? Because he says he loves America. That is what the American Flag means to him.

When anyone in this country sees the American flag it should remind them of the better opportunity that that this country gave them. That does not mean that they should give up part of their culture in Cinco de Mayo, but when they see the American flag it should remind them of the men who died for that flag so that they can come to America. Yes, I am proud to wear an American flag.

The flag, representative of the greatest country on earth, gives hope to those who behold her. She stands tall and proud, and waves in the wind, above the evil and chaos of man; she is a beauty to behold, and yet some burn her; some tear her up; some desecrate her glory and bring it to shame. Oh how she has stood the test of time; how she has outlived those who have opposed her, and those who have defended her, and is still going strong today. I love that ol' flag, and more so, I love what she stands for--freedom. Many have sought refuge under her colors, and many have found that elusive freedom that seems to be one step ahead of so many people. She has gathered men from all corners of the earth, and united them under one banner, and given them the name "American". She is worthy of her honor, just as the men that fought to preserve her are honored, and let neither be forgotten or beaten. Keep her flying high, and be proud to be an American, and most of all, thank God that we are Americans, since we had no choice of our place of birth. God is good to give us citizenship in a free country, and we need to honor Him for that.

I thank God I'm American;
And I thank Him for the old
red, white, and blue;
Let her lead in peace and war;
And let her stand so bold and true.
