Hi,

My husband and I have an opportunity to move to Australia (Port Macquarie NSW specifically) in June. We have mixed feelings about moving, but the biggest concern we have about going is Church. I know there isn't an IFB church in Port Macquarie, but I was hoping someone might know if there is one within 2 hours or so from there.

I know it's a long shot, but we have to make our decision soon. I've looked on a couple of church directories, and can't find any close, but I know that not all churches are listed, especially if one is newer.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Thanks and God bless.

I know some missionaries in Australia I'll see if I can find out some more info for you. :)

You won't be far from Syndney where there are at least 2 good IFB churches. Jon Hall is a missionary at one of them and I forget the other.

I just did a mapquest and you will be about 4 hrs from Sydney. I just emailed Bro. Hall to see if there is anything close to where you are going.

I asked a girl from college if there were any IFB churches that she knew of. She said she didn't know any off the top of her head. She said a lot of IFB churches in Australia are called Bible churches.

Never mind. My pastor friend started chatting with him and found out they are BBC grads. The church has changed from a baptist church to a non-denom and they no longer use the KJV.

Thanks amblivion (and Pastorj). Searching for Bible churches I did manage to fine one that is IFB in Coffs Harbour, which is about 2 hours away. I've spoken with the Pastor and it seems like a lovely, solid Church. He doesn't know of any others in the area, though there used to be a couple which may or may not still be around. We'll figure it out when we get there, but for now at least there is one Church in the area.

Aside from Sydney, which has at least a dozen, there's a tragic lack of good Churches in Australia.

Missionary Tony Sullivan is in Port Macquarie according to a missionary friend in Darwin. The name of the church is Port Baptist Church.

I guess I didn't read this post properly before. I think that might actually be the church my parents attend, since I'm only aware of one baptist church there. It's so sad, because when they first started going there, it seemed at least not bad, compared to what my parents used to attend. But the pastor that had taken over just before my parents started going there was really trying to contemporize things, and now it's a mess. Though my parents think it's wonderful. :(

My missionary friend is familiar with the church in Coffs Harbour. He said it is an excellent church. The only issue he has is that they have a missionary who was divorced and remarried. Apparently they believe that if the divorce happens prior to salvation, it doesn't effect his qualifications to be a pastor.

I'm sorry InHisName I thought I had pm'd you but when I just checked it hadn't gone through. The church in Coffs Harbour is excellent I think that is where the Evangelist Fraser Young comes out of and he is excellent. We have had him at our Church many times. We don't have good churches in every town, but there are some excellent ones here. If you're ever coming to central Coast Queensland pm me and I will let you know of some great Churches. Of course you would be welcome at our church which is awesome. I have very good friends south of Sydney at Nowra who would welcome visitors anytime. Anyway I hope you enjoy your time in Australia, it is a great country in desperate need of the gospel.

I'm sorry your parents are involved in that church. It is very sad the way that particular pastor has gone.

Anyway please feel free to pm me with any questions or concerns.
