I went to bed on Christmas Eve as a kid with my own idea of Santa. Not a big jolly man in a red suit, but a presence that made things magical for me. It was a kid's world.

Interesting result - everyone thinks that teaching kids about Santa is lying. I suppose, if you look at it literally, it is!

I saw a video on youtube about a girl who was talking about how she became an atheist and she said that what first caused her to question the existence of God was when she realized that there was no santa and she wondered what else her parents had lied to her about.

If we would lie to our children about Santa, them they find out, them because of that think Jesus is a myth, what have you done.

Like the 2 boys walking home from Sunday school. One ask the other, "What do you think about this Satan our Sunday school teacher taught us about?"

The other boy replied, "It will prOBably run out to be our dad just as Santa did."

I grew up thinking there was a Santa, it did not bother me, but I know many who were raised as I, plus in church, who once they left home, left church, Jesus, and God forever.

Any lie is never right.

It didn't discourage my husband from believing in God. But he does not want to teach Santa to our son to some degree.

BUT most unbelievers will use it as a reason why they don't believe in God.
They use the "Well, I believed in Santa, so why should I believe in God?" argument/ I just tell them if they like teaching Santa to their children, then They should stop using that argument because if they don't , Christians will see the Santa myth is not a good idea after all (The unbelievers are always complaining we are ruining Christmas because of this). So I tell them to use the real reason why they rejected God and it isn't because of Santa.

Most agreed with me after I told them and tried to come up other fantasy stuffs like fairies.I don't think it worked out for them too well after that.
