People often strangely consider something more valuable once they own it. Now scientists find this same apparently irrational behavior in chimps, a finding that could help shed light on the human mind. ... LONDON (Reuters) - Neanderthals, often portrayed as grunting, club-carrying brutes, may have been capable of sophisticated speech, researchers said on Thursday. A DNA analysis shows Neanderthals share with humans two key changes in the FOXP2 gene known to be involved in speech, raising the possibility the species possessed some prerequisites for language, the researchers said. ... http://www.reuters.com/article/scienceN ... cienceNews

The ancestors of humanity are often depicted as knuckle-draggers, making humans seem unusual in our family tree as "upright apes." Controversial research now suggests the ancestors of humans and the other great apes might have actually walked upright too, making knuckle-walking chimpanzees and gorillas the exceptions and not the rule. ... http://www.livescience.com/strangenews/ ... early.html So does this mean our ancestors can think like humans too?

Quote by C.H. Spurgeon: "We are invited, brethren, most earnestly to go away from the old-fashioned belief of our forefathers because of the supposed discoveries of science. What is science? The method by which man tries to conceal his ignorance. It should not be so, but so it is. [They say...] You are not to be dogmatical in theology, my brethren, it is wicked; but for scientific men it is the correct thing. [They say..] You are never to assert anything very strongly; but scientists may boldly assert what they cannot prove, and may demand a faith for more credulous than any we posses. Forsooth, you and I are to take our Bibles and shape and mould our belief according …

...The thickness of a debris disk depends on the size of objects orbiting inside it. The ring of dust thins as the star system ages, but if enough dust has clumped together to form an embryonic planet, it knocks the other dust grains into eccentric orbits. Over time, this can puff up what was a razor-thin disk....(more) http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/0 ... bryos.html When I read this article, I thought about how some people think religious people back in the dark age or so believed in a flat circle earth . BTW, circle in greek can also mean sphere.. and I don't see how they would say the bible teach flat earth because of the 4 "corners" . It would be a flat-circ…

In regards to Genesis chapter 1 and the various threads we have around here about what happened when and whether or not there is a gap, etc., I thought I would post an excerpt of a writing that is just beautiful, IMO. This is being posted by permission. Dennis Martin is the writer of this piece and he wrote it after studying some of the material by Dr. Carl Baugh of the Creation Science Museum in Glenn Rose, Texas (Creation in Symphony video series) and the late Henry M. Morris II, founder of the Creation Science Institute. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I did. If you would like to receive this in its entirety, just send me a PM. Because there are a cou…

Who are teachers on creation science that have good material out there? Kent Hovind, http://www.drdino.com or mailing address in some florida prison, has great free downloads of seminars and information, as well as a great book store. Ken Ham, http://www.answersingenesis.com just opened up a HUGE creation science museum, and his teachings focus a lot on beating racism. I have books from some of the earlier generation creation scientist, like Duane T. Gish Ph.D. I'm always looking for more recourses, the more information available I feel the better.

Found this a little odd? http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20070803/wl_csm/oyahya Here's an excerpt" "Folks, there is no such thing as what you call evolution. If there was, it would be in the Holy Bible or the Koran," added Oktar, dressed in an ivory-white raw silk suit and wearing gold cufflinks and a matching gold belt buckle with Arabic inscriptions on them. My buddy cowboy inspired me to start this thread: What verses do you find in the KJV that show scientific knowledge in the scripture. Just in case anyone is wondering why I specify the KJV, is other versions mess up the translation and you can open one and show scientific errors. Maybe I'll start that thread in the bible area, after we tally up a bunch of verses here. Some of my favorites: Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. What does the earth hang on? What is gravity? How would Job, probably written soon after the flood, older then Moses, know this? Why is there a part of outer space, that literall…

Has anyone heard of/been to the new Creation Museum here in Kentucky (it's only about 20 mins. from my house). I went today, and it's really an amazing place to see! The plan of Salvation is the basis of the entire museum, and you really walk away with a lot of knowledge about how science supports creationism.

NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope has revealed a dusty star system being soaked with a "steamy rain" of water vapor. The water, pulled from gassy stellar leftovers into a dusty disk, provides what astronomers think is the first direct look at how the life-giving liquid makes its way into planets. The disk is the same sort of thing that forms around many stars and, in the case of our sun, was the seedbed for planet formation. ... (more) http://www.livescience.com/space/scienc ... _rain.html

I?m glad you found this site, because I want to share with you my thoughts from time to time here about a subject that is very near and dear to me: freedom. EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed is a controversial, soon-to-be-released documentary that chronicles my confrontation with the widespread suppression and entrenched discrimination that is spreading in our institutions, laboratories and most importantly, in our classrooms, and that is doing irreparable harm to some of the world?s top scientists, educators, and thinkers. America is not America without freedom. In every turning point in our history, freedom has been the key goal we are seeking: the Mayflower coming here…

Kent Hovind likes to talk about putting dirt in a jar with water, shaking it up and it'll layer out like the so-called geological collum. This does work, but you need to make sure you have a good amount of different types of minerals in there or you look stupid. Sand, clay, top soil... different densities so it works. You can make your own fossils, but this takes a year, and I joke about making diamonds, but that takes a good chunk of investment. What I'd like to know, is if anyone knows of good creation vs evolution experiments. I've started writing my own, to show how things like the big bang are impossible, what a flood does, ect. anyone have any?

A fun fact about the moon is that it moves away from the earth about 2 inches a year. This is no big deal, we won't lose it soon, but if you wind back the clock you run into major problems with the theory that the earth is millions or billions of years old. First, you have massive tides that would level the land masses. Even closer, you'd have such a gravitational pull that you start messing with the atmosphere in a way that would make life unprobrable. Third, you go back to far, and the moon slams into the earth. So what are the theories of evolutionists to dismiss this? 1) The moon formed at the same time as the earth, and an impact started it moving away from u…

Having encountered "Big Bang Christians" before, I thought this piece from Answers In Genesis was worth posting. Q: Did God use the big bang to bring the universe into existence? A: No, although many Christians say that we can believe in the big bang?as long as you say God did it. But here?s the big problem with such a scenario. By saying that God created the universe using the big bang, one is really saying that what God said He did in His Word is not true. Genesis 1 teaches that God made the earth first, covered with water. The sun, moon, and stars were not made until the fourth day of creation. The big bang, however, teaches that the sun and stars came before…
