Baptists in Turkmenistan beaten & fined OSLO, Norway (BP) -- Authorities in Turkmenistan continue to crack down on religious freedom, violently raiding a Baptist church, beating an elderly woman and fining 11 Baptists for unregistered religious worship, according to Forum 18, a Norway-based religious freedom monitor. Police and government officials in the former Soviet satellite in Central Asia raided a meeting of Path of Faith Church in Dashoguz at the home of the Shirmedov family on Sept. 21, Forum 18 reported. Officials seized all the Christian literature they could find and dragged Begjan Shirmedov, a 77-year-old Baptist leader and the father of the family, ou…

Romney relies on shrinking pool of white male votes WASHINGTON (Reuters) - With the race between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama tightening, the Republican needs one group more than any other to drive him to the White House: white men. For Romney, the support of white male voters offers the likeliest path to the presidency, even as betting on white men is proving an increasingly risky proposition for Republicans. His reliance on that voter group becomes more acute as polls show him far behind with African-Americans, lagging badly among Hispanics, and at a disadvantage with women in many polls, despite overall poll numbers showing him essentially tied with Obama in recent…

More evidence that Voyager has exited the solar system Good point , but if they let us have smartphones with battery that last 35 years, those smartphones companies won't turn into multi-million dollars companies, will they?

When you are weak and hear Satan knock Turn your feet around and don’t stop to talk Although it’s not some great Biblical mystery or prophecy, outright; it is something we should never forget. What are some easily remembered scriptures for those times when (not if) Satan comes tempting us? Edited to capitalize a word in the title.

I hear the arguments that we should not vote because the men running are not Christians. Or, not Christians when held up beside the word of God. Also, that at least one candidate holds a very perverted view of Jesus Christ. Below is a list of past to current presidents that anyone on here could have possibly voted for (I doubt I needed to go back past Truman but there may be someone here who is over 89). Woodrow Wilson, 1913-1921 Warren Gamaliel Harding, 1921-1923 Calvin Coolidge, 1923-1929 Herbert Clark Hoover, 1929-1933 Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 1933-1945 Harry S. Truman, 1945-1953 Dwight David Eisenhower, 1953-1961 John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 1961-1963 Lyndon B…

Washington Post faith reporter asks, ‘Why is polygamy so problematic?’ WASHINGTON, D.C., October 10, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – As three states face ballot questions on whether to uphold the traditional definition of marriage between two members of the opposite sex, some in the national intelligentsia are looking forward to the next victory of the sexual revolution: polygamy. The faith writer at The Washington Post asked in a recent column, if one believes marriage should sanction any affectionate arrangement that makes its parties happy, “Why is polygamy so problematic?” John Witte Jr., a law professor and religion scholar Atlanta’s Emory University, has written in…

Busting the myth: Christians and divorce October 9, 2012 (Breakpoint.org) - Maybe you’ve seen the popular Discovery Channel show, “Mythbusters.” In it, a couple of hilarious special effects experts pit Hollywood and urban legends against scientific tests. Sometimes the myths turn out to be solid facts. But usually, the show’s hosts bust them (and set a lot of things on fire in the process). Well, it’s time to bust a favorite myth of our culture. If we’ve heard it once, we’ve heard it a thousand times: The divorce rate among Christians is basically the same as it is among non-Christians. As Glenn Stanton pointed out recently at The Gospel Coalition, we usually hear t…

Respect is a mutual thing; to earn it we must give it to some degree. This is what the Bible speaks of in the command “Be subject one to another” (1 peter 5: 5). Seven verses in the New Testament contain the word “submit” and each of them is to some sort of authority. These seven verses include wives to husbands (Eph. 5: 22~Col. 3:18); Ourselves to God (James 4: 7); to them that have rule over us (Heb. 13: 17); to every ordinance of man, (1 Peter 2: 13); and the younger are to submit to the elder (1 Peter 5: 5). Can you see the position here? The lesser submits to the greater in authority, it is not the other way around. I often teach at the county jail, and tell t…

I posted this quote sometime back, seems some really had negatives to say about it. I believe I found who made this quote & wanted to post it hoping to make some of you really give some deep thoughts about it. The quote seems to have come from Spurgeon. One thing about it, there's much truth in it. And this is where it seem to come from. "Who of God is made unto us wisdom." --1 Corinthians 1:30 Man's intellect seeks after rest, and by nature seeks it apart from the Lord Jesus Christ. Men of education are apt, even when converted, to look upon the simplicities of the cross of Christ with an eye too little reverent and loving. They are snared in the old net i…

Study finds rise in gay characters on network TV NEW YORK (AP) — The number of gay and bisexual characters on scripted broadcast network TV is at its highest-ever level in the season ahead, according to the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. The total on cable television is also going up. The 17th annual "Where We Are on TV" report, released Friday, found that 4.4 percent of actors appearing regularly on prime-time network drama and comedy series during the 2012-13 season will portray lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender characters. That is up from 2.9 percent in 2011, which saw a dip in what had been a growing annual trend. The study reviewed 97 scripted…

US Protestants lose majority status NEW YORK (AP) — For the first time in its history, the United States does not have a Protestant majority, according to a new study. One reason: The number of Americans with no religious affiliation is on the rise. The percentage of Protestant adults in the U.S. has reached a low of 48 percent, the first time that Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life has reported with certainty that the number has fallen below 50 percent. The drop has long been anticipated and comes at a time when no Protestants are on the U.S. Supreme Court and the Republicans have their first presidential ticket with no Protestant nominees. Among the reasons for…

Obama's first miracle...7.8% unemployment! Just 2 days prior (during the debate...frequently referenced) it was above 8% and miraculously two days later it drops to 7.8%. Just like he promised he would do bring unemployment below 8%! Aren't you simply amazed?

The upcoming election is predictable in all but about half a dozen or so states. For those who live in the swing states, their vote and efforts to get voters out, could have an impact. What about those in the already decided states? If you live in a state that is sure to go for Obama or Romney, is there anything that can be done to effect the outcome of the election? How many, in both parties, will not bother to vote at all because they already know which way their State will go? Only a few of us here live in swing states, the rest of us live in states that no matter who we vote for, that state is already sure to go for a particular candidate. What about the congres…

http://2016themovie.com/ This is also a movie that is a must see - and is available to order on DVD now. It's a good one to watch after watching Agenda. So you can see just what the Communist agenda will/is lead(ing) to. We can say, "oh, I know all that already," but unless we do something about it, we will carry some of the blame on our shoulders when it happens. If the Lord tarries and our children/grandchildren have to live in a country like this, it will be shame on us. ALL of us.

Anyone ever read this comic book? It's been out for several years now. It's written by a former Muslim. http://www.derafsh-k...-it-or-else.pdf The Hadith (Collection of sayings attributed to Mohammed upon which Sharia law is based. There are six major collections of the Hadith). Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: Once Allah's Apostle went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) o 'Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Apostle ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have …

In 3 states, gay marriage eyes historic win OLYMPIA, Wash. (BP) -- For more than a decade now -- 14 years to be exact -- supporters of gay marriage have longed for that breakthrough win at the state level, where citizens go to the polls, and in the privacy of the voting booth actually endorse marriage for same-sex couples. But it has never happened -- not in 1998 when nearly 70 percent of voters in Alaska and Hawaii affirmed traditional marriage, not in 2004 (Oregon) or 2006 (Wisconsin) when two left-leaning states did the same, and not since. Precisely 32 of 32 states that have put the issue on the ballot have voted to uphold marriage as between a man and a woman. …

The problem of lack of basic sanitation is widespread in Indian homes with census data showing more households in the country of 1.2 billion people have a telephone than a toilet. Some 47 percent of India's 330 million households have toilet facilities while 63 percent of homes have phone connections -- mostly mobiles -- showing how the nation's rapid communication revolution has spread through society. Some what over two years ago I switched to ALLTEL, about 1 year or so later Verizon bought them out. When I bought a new computer I could not get my old ALLTEL modem work on it. Verizon talked me into updating for free getting a new contract & sending me a new USB modem. Since them I have had quite a bit of trouble, lately its gotten worse. Last week they sent me a new sim card, at first seemed to help, but as of yesterday & today its much worse, worse than ever. I kept a record of all my troubles of not connecting, dropped connections & ect, & there over 14 pages, & I am still adding to it. When they said the sim card was the trouble I highly …

First I’m going to ask that you all don’t be to harsh to me for what I’m about to say. It’s not easy but I feel it’s good for me to express my true feelings. I don’t want people to think it’s this overnight transformation because it’s definitely not that for me! I have to say honestly that this whole thing has been a struggle. I’m not going to pretend that something miraculous happened and I’m transformed forever. No it hasn’t been like that for me. I’ve even questioned if my “being saved” was even genuine. The struggle gets harder and harder with each day. I desperately wanted to go to my Mormon church on Sunday, but I had already given my word that I would be at t…

Well I think it’s time for me to leave this site. I thought it would be a great place to talk to others about God and the Bible, but I’ve found that much of it is just a bunch of legalists trying to say how everyone who doesn’t think exactly like they do are horrible people. Whether you believe Islam is right or wrong, it’s NOT RIGHT to bash them. Whether you believe public school is right or wrong, it’s NOT RIGHT to judge those who go there. Whether you believe that the sky is orange, it’s NOT RIGHT to be mean to those who don’t. Also, to actually say that someone isn’t saved because they disagree with you on something is horrible. I have found that instead of be…
