Christmas in October It’s Christmas in October! Why? Because now is the time to think about Christmas displays in your community for 2011. We want everyone to be aware that it is absolutely legal for the government to include a Nativity or other religious symbols of Christmas in a city holiday display that also includes secular items like snowmen, reindeer or Santa Claus. Where a city opens up a public forum area, like a park, for private displays, religious items must also be permitted. Where appropriate, a Menorah or other religious symbols may also be included. First Christmas Win of the Year The Christian Law Association has already been successful this year i…

I have been reading much on this board about a changed life with salvation. I too believe that there will be a change according to 2 Cor. 5:17, and maybe a few other verses, but I have two observances to make concerning the changed life: one, The Lord makes the change. Too many of us do the changing ourselves because we know that there must be a change. This "change" becomes a work on our part, and not of the Holy Spirit. What good does this sort of change do for us, really? observance two: how great is that change? We too often judge a brother by his "fruit", but all fruit is not visible to us. I know that the Bible says we will know them by their fruit, but jus…

New Burial Method: ‘Liquefaction’ A Glasgow-based company has installed its first commercial “alkaline hydrolysis” unit at a Florida funeral home. The unit by Resomation Ltd is billed as a green alternative to cremation and works by dissolving the body in heated alkaline water. The facility has been installed at the Anderson-McQueen funeral home in St. Petersburg, and will be used for the first time in the coming weeks. It is hoped other units will follow in the US, Canada and Europe. The makers claim the process produces a third less greenhouse gas than cremation, uses a seventh of the energy, and allows for the complete separation of dental amalgam for safe disposa…

October 11, 2011 ON MYSTERY BABYLON The last words of the angel to John, seem to leave no possibility of mistake as to the city. "The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sitteth . . . and the woman which thou sawest is that great city which reigneth over the kings of the earth." What city was that? There was but one great city, which in John's day reigned aver the kings of the earth. It was ROME; and Rome is the only city which was great then, has been great, in one way or other, ever since, and is so still. And Rome was seated on seven hills, "the seven mountains on which the woman sitteth…

GET THEM OUT October 6, 2011 NewsWithViews.com By Coach Dave Daubenmire What you are seeing on the steps of Wall Street is the counterfeit movement of the Left. It is the latest “youth movement” stirred-up to counter the Establishment. For over two years we have watched the Progressives speak ill of the grandparents who have taken to the streets to fight for liberty in America. “Tea Baggers” is what the Socialist Left has called the gray-hairs who have organized to push-back against an out of control government. “Tea Party Patriots” have drawn the ire of the Liberal Leftists who are concerned that their death-grip on America is in danger of being repelled. Mak…

TEACHING IDIOCY October 6, 2011 NewsWithViews.com By Lee Duigon Let’s take another look at public education in America—the greatest system for breeding idiocy that the world has ever known. First we’ll pay another visit to Fort Worth, Texas, where folly may be viewed in microcosm. Last week the Fort Worth school district rescinded the suspension of a 14-year-old honor student for saying “homosexuality is wrong.” The alleged teacher who had him suspended had decorated his classroom with a poster of two men kissing, telling his students that homosexuality is now “the way it is” and they’d “better learn to accept it.” When the boy’s mother showed up with a lawyer, s…

A Brief (and by no means exhaustive) Summary of Passages Contained Within "The Message" by Eugene Peterson Which Directly Compromise Fundamental Tenets of Orthodox Christianity What follows is a comparison/contrast and analysis of several well –known passages as found in major translations such as the KJV, NASB, and NIV as well as these same passages as found in The Message authored by Eugene Peterson. Any intellectually honest assessment of the following notes leads to the inescapable conclusion that The Message compromises some of the fundamental doctrines of orthodox Christianity. I began this study when I was made aware that the high school seniors of a nearby c…

Why is it that we ask others for prayer, but seldom ever update them when they pray? I see many prayer requests, but when I pray, I do not to hear anything more about it! Has God answered favorably, or not? If we are concerned enough to ask our brothers and sisters to pray, why not show the same consideration for those who have undertaken the task?

Why do old people say they don't need an hearing aid, when they obviously do? And why do they always sit at the back? A lady in her 90s said at church on Sunday, that she could never hear the sermon. I said if she had a hearing aid she would hear on the loop system. She replied that she did not need and aid, and that she could hear her TV. I asked how loud she had the volume? She replied that she could hear people in her home. I said she could move forward and sit near the loud speakers, but she replied that she was comfortable there. At a previous church we attended, a couple of deaf old ladies sat at the back on a row of seats against the rear wall. There was …

ARE EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS WARMONGERS? September 15, 2011 NewsWithViews.com By Chuck Baldwin I’ve been an evangelical Christian since I was a child. I’ve been in the Gospel ministry all of my adult life. I attended two evangelical Christian colleges, received honorary degrees from two others, and taught and preached in several others. I’ve attended many of the largest evangelical pastors’ gatherings and have been privileged to speak at Christian gatherings--large and small--all over America. I have been part of the inner workings of evangelical ministry for nearly 40 years. I think I learned a thing or two about evangelical/fundamentalist Christianity in America. An…

The Democracy Worshipers By Patrick J. Buchanan Friday - September 16, 2011 "Your people, sir, is ... a great beast." So Alexander Hamilton reputedly said in an argument with Thomas Jefferson. At the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Hamilton explained: "Real liberty is not found in the extremes of democracy, but in moderate governments. If we incline too much to democracy, we shall soon shoot into a monarchy, or some other form of dictatorship." In his column, "Democracy Versus Liberty," Walter Williams cites Hamilton, James Madison and John Randolph, who wrote of "the follies and turbulence" of democracy, and John Adams: "Democracy never lasts long. It soon …

Considering some of the things these guys say it's no wonder so many think ill of Christians and so many want to argue, or attack, rather than listen to someone present the Gospel. Pat Robertson says it's okay to divorce a spouse with alzheimers because the spouse is "dead already". John Hagee says the first time Jesus came He didn't come to be the Jewish Messiah. Two major statements by popular Christian "leaders" that have no biblical backing. With them putting this stuff out there, along with the stuff from others, Christians and Christianity is continually being tarnished, hearts are being hardened.

KING, KENNEDY AND COMMUNISM September 18, 2011 NewsWithViews.com By Cliff Kincaid As the official dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial in Washington, D.C. approaches, liberals in the media are in damage control over a revelation about the civil rights leader from an unlikely source—Caroline Kennedy, daughter of JFK and Jackie Kennedy. Her new book, Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy, makes it abundantly clear that Jack and Bobby Kennedy, as well as Jackie, saw through the public façade of the Reverend King and knew him to be a proven liar about his communist connections and a scoundrel in terms of his personal life. …

A hot issue on the campaign trail: theology Rick Perry dived right in. The Texas governor, now a Republican presidential candidate, held a prayer rally for tens of thousands, read from the Bible, invoked Christ and broadcast the whole event on the Web. There was no symbolic nod to other American faiths, no rabbi or Roman Catholic priest among the evangelical speakers. It was a rare, full-on embrace of one religious tradition in the glare of a presidential contest. Looks like another raucous season for religion and politics. And yet, there was a time when all of this was simpler. Protestants were the majority, and candidates could show their piety just by attend…

Millions call themselves by His name, it is true, and pay some token respect to Him, but a simple test will show how little He is really honored among them. Let the average man be put to the proof on the question of who or what is above, and his true position will be exposed. Let him be forced into making a choice between God and money, God and men, between God and personal ambition, God and self, God and human love, and God will take second place every time. Those other things will be exalted above. However the man may protest, the proof is in the choices he makes day after day throughout his life. -A.W. Tozer
