I hear arguments about, if the King James Bible is God's perfect word, what about the Geneva and the other Bibles that were before it? Can anyone give me some insight?

God wrote the Bible and God made you. You will never get away from quoting the Bible. People will tell us that we didn't come from God, yet they will quote the Bible the rest of their life. Atheist even quotes the Bible You don't need a King James Bible to quote a KJB. You don't have to believe in the KJB. Yet you will still quote from the KJB.

I came across this textual position of an independent, fundamental Baptist college. This college is also soulwinning, evangelistic and missionary-minded. Based on this textual position, would you or would you not recommend this college to a prospective student and why? We believe that the Bible is comprised of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments and was given by inspiration of God. We believe, therefore, that it is inerrant and infallible. We furthermore believe in both verbal and plenary inspiration. In addition, we believe that God has preserved His word as He promised, and that He has preserved it in the traditional texts or in the set of manuscri…

"There is only one Book," When Sir Walter Scott lay dying he summoned to his side his man in waiting and said, "Read to me out of the Book." Which book? answered his servant. "There is only one Book," was the dying man's response--"The Bible!" The Bible is the Book to live by and the Book to die by. Therefore read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, practice it to be holy. As another has said: "Know it in the head, store it in the heart, show it in the life, sow it in the world." "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thorough…

Peace to you all in Jesus Christ our Lord! Maybe this topic has been discussed here on these threads previously, but I am somewhat new here, and I was wondering your thoughts on this issue. I have recently been told that morning star is the appropriate and accurate rendering for this verse in Isaiah 14. I have been told there is nothing wrong with this rendering, and that in fact, the KJV translators put into the footnotes that this can also be rendered Day Starr. They also claim the KJV translators took this Latin word Lucifer directly from the Latin Vulgate, to which meant morning star or Venus during their day. I looked at a Geneva Bible (from a link given by…

Does anyone know if the Jews have this manuscript controversy? Do they have many translations of the Torah which cause division among themselves? God Bless!

1st Corinthians 1:21 of the KJB reads: "For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe." 1st Corinthians 1:21 of the NIV reads: "For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe."
the foolishness of what was preached,

the foolishness of what was preached,
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT!!! Greetings King James Bible believers. Another brother (Schmuel) has decided to open up an in-house King James site for those who believe the King James Bible is the only complete, infallible and pure words of God. This is not a debate club. The primary purpose of the club is to have in-house discussions about the King James Bible so that we can better defend the criticisms that come up against it. It will be a place where we can look into the grammar and meanings of words as found in the King James Bible, and we can share our resources, insights and methods of dealing with opposing views. It will be a safe club where anyone who believes the KJB is God's Final…

Heb 1:6, "And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, and let all the angels of God worship him. QUESTION: Where did God say, "and let all the angels of God worship him?" ANSWER: Deut. 32:43 The KJV uses the Masoretic text. It is only found in the LXX, or the Dead Sea Scrolls. The LXX and the DSS, both say in Deut. "Rejoice o nations, with his people and let all the angels worship him for he will avenge the blood of his servents." You may say, "but it shouldn't have been there, that they are not God's words." WEll, in that case you disagree with the Writer of Hebrews when he says that God said it! The phrase according to…

Brass or Copper in Deuteronomy 8:9? Objection raised by a Bible critic At the end of Deuteronomy 8:9, the KJV reads: "Out of whose hills thou mayst dig brass." The NKJV reads: "out of whose hills you can dig copper." Which is the more accurate or better rendering of the Hebrew at this verse: "dig brass" or "dig copper?" Can "brass" be found naturally so that it can be dug out of hills? Since the KJV translators themselves translated the same Hebrew word here translated "brass" as "copper" at another verse, is there any compelling reasons for objecting to the rendering "dig copper" at Deut. 8:9? Those who claim that the KJV is a perfect translation are un…

I saw some famous names reflecting defending the KJV. However I ask you question: Who are they? 1. D. A. Waite 2. Peter Ruckman 3. Gail Riplinger 4. Samuel Gipp 5. Joseph Chambers 6. Thomas Strouse Please tell me who they are and what their view (what do they believe?) on their defending the KJV is. Who do you support mostly? I am curious to wonder if they disagree each other, you can explain what difference between them. If I miss more famous names, please add them and tell me who they are.

Hell and Damnation Hell or Hades? The doctrine of Hell is getting a lot cooler in the modern versions. In fact, a lot of theologically important words in the Holy Bible are being toned down or even lost entirely. As examples, here is a partial list of the frequency of certain words comparing the King James Bible Old Testament, with the NKJV, the NASB, and the NIV Old Testament. TRUTH KJB - 118 times; NKJV - about same; NASB - 92; NIV - 41 GRACE KJB -38 times; NKJV - 20; NASB - 9; NIV - 8 MERCY, MERCIFUL KJB - 288 times; NKJV -same; NASB - 51; NIV - 85 SOUL KJB - 478 times; NKJV - same; NASB - 255; NIV - 110 LUCIFER …

They worshipped Jesus Matthew 8:1-2 "When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. And, behold, there came a leper and WORSHIPPED him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean." Luke 24:51-53 "And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, AND CARRIED UP INTO HEAVEN. And they WORSHIPPED HIM, AND returned to Jerusalem with great joy: And were continually in the temple, PRAISING and blessing God. AMEN." There are several ways in which the multitude of conflicting modern bible versions diminish the glory and honor due to our Lord Jesus Christ. They also diminish the authority of the words of God by con…

John 10:16 "and there shall be one FOLD, and one shepherd." In John 10 the Lord Jesus speaks of Himself as the good shepherd who gives His life for the sheep. In verse 16 of the King James Bible we read: "And other sheep I have, which are not of this FOLD (aule): them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one FOLD (poimeen), and one shepherd." Many Bible critics have lashed out against the King James Bible in this verse for rendering two different words as "fold", instead of reading like the NKJV, NASB which say: "other sheep I have which are not of this FOLD...and there shall be one FLOCK, and one shepherd." The NIV says: "I have o…

The Veracity of the Old Testament: A Scientific Validation by Scott Jones The following information is compiled from "A Scientific Investigation of the Old Testament," by R.D. Wilson (there are two editions, and I'm privileged to have a reprint of his first edition), "Is Higher Criticism Scholarly," also by Wilson, and "Which Bible," by David Otis Fuller. (Fuller studied under Dr. Wilson at Princeton Theological Seminary. For foundation, it should be noted that Dick Wilson was fluent in 45 ancient languages and dialects. This includes all the Biblical and cognate languages, i.e., Hebrew, Aramaic, the Sumerian/Babylonian dialects, Phoenician, Assyrian, Ethiopic, …

I loved the way " brandplucked " or Bro. Will , explained the issue of " Heard & Not heard " in Acts 9 and 22. I would like for us to continue in that pattern with the issue of Eternal Security. Rightly dividing the scriptures they use against it with the scripture that we know proclaims that we do have this God given promise. Those that say you can lose your salvation say " In John 15:6 ... If any man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned up. They say you must maintain the divine connection and you can chose to be lost no matter how saved y…

Peace and love to you all in Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour! I have come across christians (specifically on the BB boards) who believe that this Psalm is not speaking of the preservation of God's words of truth, but of only people. They have even quoted John Gill, and others commentaries of what this Psalm is speaking, and these commentaries have not viewed this Psalm as speaking about or indicating the promise God has made concerning his words of truth. I have understood this Psalm to mean that God would preserve his words, and that the words that the Lord promises to preserve are pure words, and that these words are what keep the people preserved, or safe from t…

This may have been better posted in the "Biblical Issues" forum, but it's about the Bible. Click on the link and see what you think of what is being introduced? It seems to be to inspire people about the Bible, but it looks more like the subtility of the serpent at work: http://www.nobiblesunday.org/nbs.php I cherish my Bible TOO MUCH to even consider something like this, also I believe it is just another "roundabout" method to introduce the "perversions", think about it!!

Acts 9:7 with Acts 22:9 Heard the voice or didn't hear the voice? Amazingly, some Christians bring up these two Scriptures and think there is an error. At a Bible club I belong to, one member says: For those of you who think there are no errors or contradictions in the KJV please explain this one. This is a small matter but makes the point. KJV Acts 9:7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man. KJV Acts 22:9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me. This most certianly appears to me to be a contradiction, did they "hear a v…

I thought this was worth sharing. I am on Bob's mailing list. He has some pretty good articles on the King James Bible, and others like this one: A friend wrote to tell me, Jesus warned his teachings would be lost and/or corrupt over the time to pass. In answer to them I said, How do you know that is not a cunningly devised fable, an old wives tale? How do you know that is not a saying that is corrupt? Where is the Scripture that says the wholly true words shall not be preserved? It is written, that the words are preserved. Psalms 12:6 (KJB) The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 …
Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him,...
Does you Bible have "him" capatalized? My 1611 Cambridge doesnt, but yet I heard a preacher use this scripture and give the reason why "him" is capitalized was to, of course, refer to the Deity. He went on to say that the revelation, or unveiling, wasnt given to John, but to Jesus. As to show Jesus the gift He was to receive. He then went on totalk about John 3:16,
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,...
Here he refered to the scripture as God so loved the world, that he gave it to his only begotten Son. Not that Go…

Has anyone read Adam Nicolson's book "God's Secretaries"? It goes in depth to describe the historic and cultural context of the production of the King James Version. The descriptions of political intrigue on the part of the translators when it came to their persecution of the separatist Puritans would make any good Baptist bristle. It seems that the Puritans were the ones concerned with accuracy and faithfulness to the original text where the KJV translators were more concerned with currying royal favour and producing a grand Bible with lofty language. The Puritans had a similar attitude to the Geneva Bible that today's fundamentalist has toward the King James. Com…
