Hopefully, Mr./Mrs. Guest, you are feeding yourself daily and not counting on someone else to be spoon feeding you. It's not just the job of the pastor to oversee your feeding, but most of the responsibility lies on your own shoulders. That being said, watching a preaching on TV, or listening to him on CD/tape or other medium isn't going to do the trick either. You may continue to learn and grow, but you're missing out on the help other members of the body of Christ will bring.

We are living in trouble times, sorrow beings...
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in End Times/Bible Prophecy
# 1....this one could be said about ANY year... #2...I doubt the market will take a total tumble...possibly a correction, but not a depression or total collapse. #3....Wars start every year...so there's no way to take credit for this one. #4....WORLD leader in place??? Doubtful...at least not unless Christ returns for his own in the rapture of the church. #5...Confusion all around the world has been going on since right after the Garden of Eden. Your point? #6...Bitcoin has fallen...and increased...and fallen...and increased...and yes, it will probably survive as it's a cryptocurrency, which is becoming popular....maybe you need to clarify your word "falls." Remember, it's going to fluctuate with the market...that's just a fact of the stock markets and the world economy. #7...China has been threatening to attack Taiwan since they declared their independence from the mainland. I seriously doubt that China is going to want to face the repurcussions of attacking Taiwan, as the West would probably come after them with a vengeance. Are you trying to become like the false prophets that have made predictions on what will happen on what day, and who will be involved? Not a one of them has proven to be correct 100% so far. Common sense dictates that many will get SOME things right...but that's just common sense for anyone who can read what's going on. -
Baptist churches that supports the LGBTQ movement
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in Biblical Issues
Morales, constant jabs at me, especially ones that are prevarications (lies) like the one you just told, are unacceptable to me. If you don't like getting called out, stop lying and antagonizing people. Stop posting NEGATIVE posts about Baptists. You wonder why people won't or don't "fellowship" with you. These are very good reasons why. I'm not an acting pastor, so, I don't scare ANYONE away. Your posts, if you were a pastor, would encourage me to avoid your church like the plague. You say you're an evangelist...act like one and stop being so negative, lying about people, and grow up, please. I truly think you need to spend more time studying your Bible, and about how you should treat others. -
@Jim_Alaskathat sounds delicious! I wish my wife liked clams. I'm not supposed to eat them, but, I do occasionally. I might have to try this one day for a lunch when I'm home alone. ?

Baptist churches that supports the LGBTQ movement
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in Biblical Issues
If you're truly an INDEPENDENT BAPTIST, you know there ISN'T. Another negative post directed towards the Baptist churches? Morales, you already are aware that INDEPENDENT BAPTIST CHURCHES are just that...INDEPENDENT, AUTONOMOUS churches. NOBODY can tell them what to believe, preach, or teach. -
Memorial services for those that served
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in Biblical Issues
Many churches will give a moment or two to the remembrance of those who gave their lives in defense of our country and freedoms. But, again, Morales, just an observation here...why the jab at those who don't by referring to them as liberal? Just because they don't follow your prescribed line of thought concerning the issue doesn't mean they're liberal. Let's let the Holy Spirit lead what goes on in our services and not put our own ideology in place on what should or shouldn't be preached from the pulpit. -
This evening we'll be having a broiled cube steak sandwich with onions, tomato, lettuce, and pickles. Well probably add some ranch doritos with it! We decided to save the BBQ ribs we purchased from Kroger for tomorrow afternoon! That way Vivian doesn't have to cook except for the potato salad she loves to make. ? Great eats for both days!

Serving the Lord and what does this means
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in General Chats
Is it abuse? Some people would count these things as a ministry and not a job. So, should they be paid? It depends on what the two parties have agreed to. One who serves might not wish to be paid by the pastor. Others might. These should be discussed between the pastor and the party doing the work/service. -
I fully believe that Christians can backslide...I've seen it happen, and I've seen them return. Proverbs 3:11-12 11: My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: 12For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. I've heard EVERY IFB preacher, and most SBC preachers I've sat under preach sermons on "The Prodigal Son" and how it relates to someone coming BACK to God. I've also heard some from each camp preach on how it is a lost soul coming to salvation. Both had valid points and Scriptures to back up their beliefs.

Taking a nap during the church service
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in Church Related Discussions
It's IMPORTANT to stay awake. As Jerry has pointed out in a previous post, if one's major reason for going to church is to get a good snooze,, they need to stay home and listen to Joel Osteen, T.D. Jakes, Joseph Prince, or the like! They probably should be checking out their spiritual condition. ? -
Southern Baptist Church will release bad boys list
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in General Chats
Please, show me ANYWHERE there is a "positive" in your post outside of the alleged incidents finally being brought to light in public. "They" got caught? Who's they? Names? Convictions? This is a report from a committee investigating...not a court of law where there has been a verdict reached by a jury. These are ALLEGED crimes. Yes, I agree that some of if not all of these people might have committed these acts, but, until there is defrinitive proof, it's not been proven at all. And, there's no way ANY of this should have gone to an "Executive Committee" and then passed onto a lawfirm that supports the LGBTQ+ agenda. The wording of the report PRESUMES guilt before there has been PROVEN guilt...so, it shows they are biased and had an agenda. Then you state that there will be "members who will just turn their eyes." This may be, but there are a greater number who won't, and who want to know why these acts weren't brought to law enforcement. Where were the parents? Why didn't the churches pastors report these incidents if they knew about them? One other note...this ISN'T just an SBC problem...it's in the IFB as well, the Methodists, the Presbyterians, Lutherans, and any other denomination or group available. Let me make one thing PERFECTLY CLEAR to you, Morales. I'm not "50%" anything. I'm 100% a Christian, a believer and follower of Christ before I am anything...then I am a BAPTIST, not Southern Baptist just because I attend I an autonomous church who cooperates in missions with other like minded churches. I go to church where the Lord leads me to go to church. Continued jabs at my attending an SBC affiliated church aren't appreciated, and theyy will be met with a response. They are every bit as autonomous and INDEPENDENT as the IFB churches. -
Southern Baptist Church will release bad boys list
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in General Chats
Another thread full of negativity, Morales? Will you EVER post a thread that's positive, uplifting, and not somehow an attack on someone? Yes, the SBC is trying to release the names of the pastors/deacons/leadership that have been ACCUSED...many not yet CONFIRMED to have committed any acts at all, and still INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty. A report is just that, not a legal investigation by the legal authorities, which is where reports of these actions should have gone FIRST AND FOREMOST, not to the SBC EC. Many will turn away from the faith because they don't have the Holy Spirit guiding them and are looking at man. -
Tonight it's hot dogs, bbq potato chips, and macaroni salad. It's been a strange day here today weatherwise, and my balance isn't good enough for me to stand and cook. More testing for the vertigo/Meniere's on June 13th...4 1/2 hours of it. I was told to watch my sodium intake the next few weeks in preparation. So, after tonight it's mostly bland foods!

Christ is the head of the church, then the pastor
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in Biblical Issues
Christ is the head of the church...yes...then the pastor under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and the Bible. Sometimes the problems start when the pastor believes he has the right to rule like a dictator. This often leads to administrators, deacons, longtime members and others pushing an agenda that isn't wanted or accepted by the congregants. No, I don't believe members should be cast out, at least not unless it's proven that they're acting in their own best interest and not the interest of Christ and the church. Church discipline should be inacted then. -
Sorry, Morales....I forgot to correct this post as well...it's "You're" you know...you are. ? Mind didn't need to be capitalized as it's in the middle of a sentence and isn't a name or important item. Then, there really should be a comma before the name "Cowboy." Then, lets put a question mark after the word "right!" LOL How's that?

Apostleship....Are there "apostles" today?
BrotherTony replied to BrotherTony's topic in Biblical Issues
Thank you. I agree. -
Apostleship....Are there "apostles" today?
BrotherTony replied to BrotherTony's topic in Biblical Issues
So, for clarification's purposes, you're saying "No." Correct? -
It depends of what kind of affect you're going for! LOL I thought maybe you were trying to do it with a Western drawl! ? I'm no cowboy, at least not any more.
-
Say what???? First, most places don't hold fundraisers on Thursday morning. Second...it's "FOLLOWED BY", and then there is a period at the end of that sentence. Next...the word is "MINE," not mind. Again, you're missing a period. LOL How's that for corrective measures, Mr. Morales???? ? Don't mess with a former proof reader! LOL

Okay...that makes sense. ? -
Tithing in the last days...
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in Church Related Discussions
I totally understand that verse....I also understand the the old prophets (not priests) tithed of their increase. The principle is there....Abraham tithed to Melchizedek...take it or leave it. I will abide by it, as I've made clear in my posts before. It's been blessed by the Lord in our home, and I will continue to do it along with supporting other ventures of the church above and beyond the tithe. Thanks for the reply, though.
