This church was located on a gravel road, looking at the church from the front it would be to your left. The twin outhouses were across the road. As you crossed the road there was a freshly mowed path with a Y, to the left was a path about 50 yards into the woods, this was the her outhouse, to the right was a path about 50 yards in to the wood to the he outhouse. They could not be seen from the road and you could not see one outhouse from the other one.

There was 2 very thick Sears catalogs in the he outhouse, along with several rolls of toilet paper. I don't believe the catalogs were place there to look at. Linda told me the her outhouse was equipped the same way. One of the catalogs I saw had many pages missing, the front page was still on it, it was from the 60's. This was in the late 90's. I might add, both of them were two holers.

Quite often there was a grand mother in attendance with 7 grandchildren, ranging in age from about 2 years to 7 years. During preaching services they would set still and you would never hear a sound from them, which was very unlike the young children who were there every Sunday.

Pulling up into the church yard I always woudl think of this old hymn.

Church in the Wildwood

There's a church in the valley by the wildwood,
No lovelier spot in the dale;
No place is so dear to my childhood,
As the little brown church in the vale.

Chorus
(oh, come, come, come, come)
Come to the church in the wildwood,
Oh come to the church in the vale,
No spot is so dear to my childhood,
As the little brown church in the vale.
How sweet on a clear Sabbath morning,
To list'n to the clear ringing bells;
It's tones are so sweetly calling,
Oh come to the church in the vale.

Chorus
(oh, come, come, come, come)
Come to the church in the wildwood,
Oh come to the church in the vale,
No spot is so dear to my childhood,
As the little brown church in the vale.
There, close by the church in the valley,
Lies one that I loved so well;
She sleeps, sweetly sleeps, 'neath the willow,
Disturb not her rest in the vale.

Chorus
(oh, come, come, come, come)
Come to the church in the wildwood,
Oh come to the church in the vale,
No spot is so dear to my childhood,
As the little brown church in the vale.
There, close by the side of that loved one,
'Neath the tree where the wild flowers bloom,
When farewell hymns shall be chanted,
I shall rest by her side in the tomb.

Chorus
(oh, come, come, come, come)
Come to the church in the wildwood,
Oh come to the church in the vale,
No spot is so dear to my childhood,
As the little brown church in the vale.

OK, in case anyone has difficulty with detecting humor (as I did:lol:) This is a silly post: here is a link to outfit your own pooch as the one in the first pic. Be sure to read the description and the customer posts. Too funny!
