I probably should have posted this a few days ago, but anyway, did anyone attend the Kansas Baptist Men's Recharge this week (27th & 28th) near WIchita, KS? If so, what did you think? This was my first.

Also, did anyone attend the October 2008 Men's Advance Retreat in Stillwater, OK? If so, what did you think? That was my first for that one as well.

Hey cubfan,

I have never been to the Kansas retreat but have been to all but two or three of the Stillwater retreats. They started when Brother Dave McCracken was the pastor and have coninued under brother Wayne Hardy. They are always excellent, well thought out and very well presented by Wayne and his staff. Last year there were over 1200 men I had to work that week end but heard it was excellent.

We are having brother McCracken at our church in the next few months (saw it on preachers board).

Bro. Hardy was at the Kansas Retreat, along with Bro. Troy Dorrell from Eastland Baptist in Tulsa, and also Bro. Sam Davison who now I believe is the President of Heartland Baptist Bible College in OKC.

I've only been living in these parts for a couple of years (having moved from northern IL), and I didn't know anything about these retreats until I found my current church here (which I'm very thankful for).

The Kansas Retreat had approx. 500 men, and when the first song was sung, there was a marked difference from Stillwater last October.

never...Never...NEVER...retreat!
Ephesians 6:10-16
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

No, I've never been to a retreat anywhere.

I live in Wichita, but I was not able too attend the meeting this year. However, several men from our church (including my sons) did attend and from what I hear it was excellent.

I did get to go to the Advance in Stillwater and have also been to several others. Each year I don't see how they can get any better, but every year they always do. There were men there from as far as Colorado and Illinois (I only know that because I saw their locations on the side of the buses). If anyone ever gets a chance to go, I highly encourage it.

Last year's Men's Advance was my first meeting ever and I was just amazed at the whole thing, especially 1500 men singing "It is well with my soul." I couldn't wait for the Kansas meeting to get here. This was my first time listening to Bro. Davison, as I heard Bro. Hardy at the Men's Advance. Recognized a few people at the Kansas meeting that I remember seeing in Stillwater.

Can't wait for this year's Men's Advance...nothing but GOOD preaching.
