I debated whether to put this thread here or under hobbies...here won.

So does anyone weightlift? I've been lifting on and off since I was 14, and am recently enjoying a renaissance of sorts. I woke up one day (last December), realized I wasn't getting any younger, and decided I was going to get back into weight training, so I turned my side of the garage into a home gym. I train the "big three" lifts...bench, squat, and deadlift. Well, not so much squat and deadlift since I see an orthopedic surgeon this Thursday. :sad

I used to do a lot of weightlifting - unfortunately, I didn't do a lot of cardiovascular training. Nowadays, I concentrate more on cardio, but I still enjoy lifting weights. I focus weightlifting on my upper body, and let the cardio take care of my bottom half.

Now, I just need to get back on a schedule after quite a layoff.

I used to lift weights almost everyday. Then I tore my chest muscle. That took over a year to heal right. Then I started trying it again. I tore my shoulder muscle. It still is not perfect. The problem was I forgot that I wasn't as young as I once was and didn't warm up properly. I just started lifting again in January. I do free weights, machines and the eliptical. I feel alot better. I have also lost 37 pounds. God bless. :)

I used to lift weights at home with my dad, doing benching, curling, etc. Then when I worked with my uncle we used to work out every now and then. Last year I started working out again at the Y for about a month. I find it a bit boring so I never stick with it.
I ended up doing swimming which is a good workout and keeps it fun.

Kevin, with your height to weight ratio you need to start lifting weights again...you're bone thin! And btw, I can't believe I posted in the sports thread.:bored: :zzzz

I just began lifting again this week!

I've lifted weights off and on since I was 13 or 14. As recently as about 5 or 6 years ago I was getting up at 2:30 in the morning to get my workout in before I had to be at work.

Over the past several years I haven't lifted much and I don't like the way I feel now so I'm starting back up!
