I believe street preaching has its place and can be an effective method to spread the Gospel.

I also agree with Kevin that street preachers should conduct themselves in a respectful, civil manner. If the one preaching sets a bad example by his manner of conduct, what stain thus falls upon the message?

One of the problems with preaching in the various places Katie mentioned (all of which I do believe need to be preached/witnessed in) is that some place many hurdles in front of those who would do so there. I'm not saying all do, some are very, very open, but there are those that's difficult to get into; and others in between the two extremes.

In all we do, we are to do so for the glory of God and in a Christlike manner.

It almost seems to me that street preaching is this - being salt that has lost it's savor. I don't know though. I just don't understand why people would preach outside to people who have little to no interest when there are other people who would listen to preaching in jails' date=' homeless homes, juvy homes, kids' clubs, etc...[/quote']

Mark 16:15
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Because Jesus Christ deserves the reward of His suffering! Every possible person must be told, whether they are interested or not.

They are on their way to burn in hell forever.

Notice the word every; instead of the words: (only those who are interested.....)

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

You want to see a man who preaches on the streets and is VERY confrontational, without being insulting?

I want to have the same fervor and guts that Ray Comfort does.

I think it's still appropriate and biblical.

I like the way Ray Comfort does it. He doesn't come across as offensive in any way. And he lets people's consciences do the convicting rather than him trying to tell them that they are going to Hell, to which they would immediately turn him off.

I believe street preaching is a good thing, but has been said earlier I believe they way you go about it is important.

Yelling at people that there going to Hell sure will get there attention, but I believe as Kevin said that it will turn people off of what you are saying, I do believe people need to know that they are going to Hell if they reject Jesus as their Saviour, but standing in the street with a bullhorn is to much.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it send more people away than it will toward the word of God. It gets overlooked if you are to loud and obnoxious.

Oh, I don't know... I think people are offended quite a bit. But the difference is I believe that he is allowing the word to be offensive and not trying to be offensive himself.

Go to his livingwater website and read his accounts of street preaching. Some of it's pretty confrontational and offensive.

:amen: I believe that's a very important distinction!

Very important distinction. Many street-preachers today go out almost seeking to be offensive it seems. The Word of God doesn't even have a chance to get to the point to prick a person's conscience.

I agree. Those who street preach with the intent to, or just in the manner of, provoking confrontation and offending people is doing a disservice to the Lord.

Scripture itself is an offense to the lost and the only offense we should be putting forth.

I have a very soft speaking voice but even I can't imagine having to use a PA. It sounds like what they're doing is just preaching into the mic and hoping to hit people as that walk by, rather than gathering a crowd first and then preaching to the crowd.

That's not only a terrible way to preach, I can also see why people think badly of street preachers because of it.

Usually, what I'll do is just take my guitar and gather a crowd at lunchtime and then, when I've gotten their attention, talk to them.
