I agree with much of your post' date=' though I don't see a problem with Christian psychology, by any means. It's simply the study of the human psyche and it's quite fascinating, IMO. And my views on separation may be slightly different than yours. :smile[/quote']

There is no such thing as "Christian psychology." It is a contradiction of terms. Please read the series of articles by Dave Hunt (beginning with this one http://www.thebereancall.org/node/5949) to see this error-filled movement exposed.

We don't need the philosophies of Freud, Jung, Maslow, or any other athiest to understand the problems with humanity. God's word is sufficient for understanding the "human psyche." :thumb

At one time, pastors and parents rightly dealt with the issues that today are deemed only appropriate for "professional psychologists" to handle. The Word of God gives clear guidance for dealing with the various aspects we face in life. Attempting to meld some aspects of the Word of God with man-made psychological philosophies only serves to weaken muddy the waters and lead many astray.

A bit of an unbalanced article there. More throwing the baby out with the bathwater stuff. Using psychology as a remedy for man's sin is wrong. Regarding the work of Freud or Jung as being able to solve man's problems is wrong. I have very little respect for Freud as I believe much of his work is a bit questionable, at best. Jung, on the other hand, did a lot of great work. Consider the concepts of extroversion and introversion and the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator test.

As far as Christian psychology, Tim Lahaye wrote a book years ago entitled, "The Spirit-Controlled Temperament," an excellent book. There are also spiritual gifts that we each have that help to explain some of our natural tendencies and habits. Psychology is amazing and it is no more wrong than brain surgery. As a means of solving problems of sin, no. But of better understanding the way the mind works and our motivations and inclinations towards certain things, yes. Christian psychology and even aspects of secular psychology is fascinating. It is the study of the mind, that's all.

Jung was an occultist and a medium, who channelled his writings through his demon - I certainly don't think the philosophies he came up with have any place in the Christian's life!
