In another thread sojourner mentioned that their church has a noon meal on Sunday, an afternoon service, and no evening service. The church I attend does the same. I wonder how many out there have similar set ups.

1. Are the meals pot lucks or otherwise?
2. How well does it seem to be accepted?

We have done this at times for special services and we enjoy it very much. I wouldn't mind doing it every week but it would probably be too "out of the ordinary" for most of our members.

Our church doesn't have Sunday dinners or afternoon services.

We are having a soup supper fund raiser coming up to help pay for our youth missionary trip later in the year.

Personally, I wasn't in favor of doing this every week. Being a single guy, it's a pain to get up early every Sunday morning and fix a dish or two to take, since I hate to cook. Once a month would be my preference, but the majority like it this way. We have several families that drive 25 miles or more to church and it is convenient for them. And since I live only a half mile from the church, I either come home and eat then go back for the afternoon service, or take a sandwich with me and just eat that.

We've been doing this for almost a year now.

Yes, basically pot luck.
