Members heartstrings Posted February 22, 2008 Members Posted February 22, 2008 I was reading in a book about mathematics entitled, Life by the Numbers and found this quote.Though you sometimes hear it said that "the world is full of mathematics," this is really just a figure of speach. Mathematics is not out there "in the world". Mathematics is inside our heads, a product of the human mind that has grown and developed over three thousand years....... I disagree. Man has invented or created nothing; only discovered what God already designed. The existence of mathematical order and principles may have been DISCOVERED by man over a period of three thousand years, but they were already in existence, designed by Almighty God. If man could only see that. Quote
Members jchahl Posted February 22, 2008 Members Posted February 22, 2008 I wish God didn't create Calculus. :bored: Quote
Guest Guest Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 That's so stupid that someone would think that. God definitely designed Math. The tabernacle, Noah's ark, etc. all show how much God is interested in math. Quote
Members heartstrings Posted February 22, 2008 Author Members Posted February 22, 2008 I wish God didn't create Calculus. Calculus was "invented"....discovered...by one of the greatest geniuses in modern history; Sir Isaac Newton, and Newton said this:"This most beautiful system [The Universe] could only proceed from the dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being." Members jchahl Posted February 22, 2008 Members Posted February 22, 2008 That's probably why I don't understand much of it. Four semesters of Calculus is enough for me. I don't know what possesses people to study math. Quote
Members qwerty guy Posted February 25, 2008 Members Posted February 25, 2008 Not to hijack the thread, but I'm gonna anyway.. this reminds me about how "science" has hijacked the work of Christians. It was put forth by the greatest minds that if God created the universe, we would have natural laws set forth by a Perfect Creator. From this we get the fruit of higher mathematics, the laws of physics, the study and rules of chemistry. It is Satan who tries to teach that there are no definable rules, no black and white, no yes and no. With a climax in the modern age, most defined by the detonation of a nuclear bomb, Satan has completed a take over of "science" and spawned the "post modern" thinking of "question everything". Science by definition is to find truths, but the fruit of a Godless study of His universe has scientists not studying what is there, but sitting around thinking of what could be. Mathematics is simply a tool we can use to understand the complexity and glory of God's creation. Evolutionary scientists ignore math, because nothing (0) cannot multiply into anything. 0 x Anything. Anything that is a product of the human mind, at it's root, is suspect. Quote
