The Non-Denomination Church. The Church that is pleasing to the ears. Here you won’t hear politics, talks about false religion, or even the word hell is mentioned, come as you are. For we are all one, in Christ?   Beware of wolves… 🐺🐑🐏

Matt.7

  1. [15] Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are raveningwolves.

Matt.10

  1. [16] Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Luke.10

  1. [3] Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.

Acts.20

  1. [29] For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Nondenominational churches now have largest share of church-goers in US

The share of Americans who identify with Protestant denominations has slipped to around 10%.

Americans’ “church membership, church attendance and belief in God all declined during the pandemic years,” but the growing membership in nondenominational Christian churches gave that largely unorganized group its first plurality among U.S. believers, Daniel de Visé writes for The Hill’s “Changing America” series.

“At least one-fifth of Americans today embrace no religion at all,” DeVisé notes, citing polls.

“A similar share tell pollsters they do not believe in God, an all-time high. The lone, striking counter-trend is a steep rise in nondenominational Protestants.”

They became a plurality among U.S. Protestants in 2021, “signaling a new era of churches and clergies untethered from religious tradition.”

DeVisé reports, “Since the 1970s, the share of Americans who identified as Baptists, Methodists and other Protestant denominations has slipped from more than 30 percent to around 10 percent. In the same span, the share of nondenominational Protestants has exploded. The 2020 U.S. Religion Census found 6.5 million more nondenominational congregants and thousands more churches than in 2010.”

DeVisé quotes Daniel Silliman, writing in Christianity Today: “If ‘nondenominational’ were a denomination, it would be the largest Protestant one, claiming more than 13 percent of churchgoers in America.”

This is a fundamental change in a key element of American society.

DeVisé notes, “Multigenerational communities formed around the Baptist and Methodist churches that dominated town squares for generations. By contrast, nondenominational churches often thrive on their otherness, attracting congregants who mistrust ancient American institutions.”

The pandemic spurred the decline of traditional church affiliation. “In-person church attendance plummeted by 45 percentin the pandemic, according to an ABC News analysis,” DeVisé reports. “Most churches have reopened, but not all congregants have returned. … The share of Americans who belong to churches dipped below half in 2020, a historic low, according to Gallup polling.”

At the same time, many of those who say they identify with no religion say they consider religion important in their lives, DeVisé reports.

They are social clubs where you do some "networking" maybe make some good connections in the business community and be called a "pillar in his church".  Very few there really give a hoot about the word of God.

The doctor who destroyed my mother's life by his reckless operation on her (he admitted to us he lost patience during the operation) and then got her blacklist by the medical establishment in the city was one of these "pillars of the church" along with the crooked judge who heard her case.

Many people who used to attend Baptist churches, both IFB and SBC, here in our area have moved to large, interdenominational churches like World Outreach Church, pastored by Alan Jackson, or Impact Church, or Gateway Church. Pastor Jackson is sound in most of his doctrine, and seems to hold close to Baptist doctrine in most things he preaches. Many are also opting for small group Bible studies all throughout the week. Some have even switched to a home church type setting. Yet, many of the strict IFB and SBC churches in the area have started to grow. I would guess that it varies from region to region.

I think that this is a sad, blanket statement from someone who is bitter, not only with events that have happened in the IFB churches, but also in non-denominational and inter-denominational churches. I know of many in all three groups that are accomplishing great things for the Lord and are seeing many converts who are being discipled so that they can go out and win souls to the Lord. Now granted, I know there are many out there that are subverting the hearers with a false Jesus, a false gospel, and a false sense of salvation from their sin and an everlasting, burning hell.

What is your definition of "Denomination"?

A Christian denomination is a distinct religious body within Christianity, identified by traits such as a name, organization and doctrine. Individual bodies, however, may use alternative terms to describe themselves, such as church, convention, communion, assembly, house, union, network, or sometimes fellowship.
