The last paragraph seems to almost claim these tribes are somehow earlier on the evolutionary scale...

I think it is saying that their culture and distinct ethnic traditions may become extinct.

That is why there is such a great need for many more missionaries to spread the gospel to these people who have never heard.

The photos made it look like another Nate Saint incident...they didn't look excited about those helicopters circling overhead!

True...but the whole flavor of the article talks about them almost more like some kind of special animal in need of protection rather than humans. I dunno.

How excited would you be if you had never seen a helicopter before? lol. I probably would have run away too fast to be captured in the photo. I mean, if the native americans were belwildered by the first settlers in the 16th century, with their big boats and horses, just think what impression these people get from helicopter. They probably think it (the helicopter) is some kind of god.

I still took it as they want to protect their land and way of life. Sort of like preserving an indian reservation here in the states.

They still need the gospel. There will be missionaries who will now go to these people and they may be killed but that has never stopped the spread of the gospel ever. Many have been killed to get the gospel out to the people who have never heard.

What's wrong with people that they see these tribes, and right away they say they need protecting, continued isolation. It's right in the artical

Don't you think that it's a crime against these people to leave them in some jungle to suffer from no medical care, dental care, etc etc. you get the point.

Why in the WORLD does this "culture" that offers little more then how to make a bow and arrow from tree vines need to be protected at the detriment of those people?

Are you being sarcastic or serious? Medical and dental are not fundamental human rights....

No, but in that type of culture a old man is 40 years old or so. They suffer from many diseases and have very high mortality... Not to mention no chance to hear the gospel... The scientists only wish them to remain in that state so that they can "study" them as if they were monkeys... Not much different than the days when they put pygmies in zoos for "scientific purposes". Only difference is, now, they want to observe them in their "natural habitat".

I believe that the only right being violated is their right to hear the gospel.

This is not specially directed at you.

By the way, the thing that man has allotted himself called rights, was given to him by God Almighty. When one becomes a Christian he is suppose to become a servant to the Lord Jesus Christ, handing the reigns over. Sometimes I get tired of hearing Christians screaming about their rights. Especially when their search of securing "their rights" get in the way of doing what the Lord has intended for them to do. Rights such as comfort, pleasure, finances...those should all be God divided. Why can't they be happy with what God has given them and move on with life. The only reason a Christian has a life is because the good Lord saw fit to give it to them.

Ok, rant over. :smile

I feel they should be reached with the gospel of course but as far as government goes, each tribe is his own "people" and they are sovereign, really. Nobody has the right to force them to change their lifestyle, outside of a Christian trying to win their souls.

Are you trying to say we should force them to be Christians? Isn't that what the Catholics did to tribal people?
