My wife and I had our initial visits last Monday at a different doctor. We left our old one because they weren't very patient friendly, and they didn't do what they had promised to do. We have been with these doctors over six years and grew tired of the lax attitude of the whole "firm". My wifes results on her x-rays haven't been addressed yet, but, the doctor did tell her that she might have to go on disability soon. She has fallen several times in the last few weeks, having balance issues, and is in a job that requires more of her than she can continue to give. It's worn her down physically. She has two titanium rods and eight titanium screws holding her thorax together. Though she is a lead person at the warehouse where she works, they often have her lifting way beyond the weight limit given by the doctors. They also continually take those who are under her to help with the loading of trucks and lifting of weight beyond her capacity and move them to other places in the plant. These things have affected her sleep, her ability to walk and stand up straight, and even walking correctly. When she lies down to sleep at night, she often groans in pain, and screams at times. We need prayer for direction in what she needs to do. We've been praying for several months, and when she discussed all of this with her physician in the practice where we went, she would always say, "You might need to go on disabiiity. But, I want to make it clear to you that I have a fee I charge per page for filling out papers for such a request." Sounds a lot like extortion. My wife refused to do this as other doctors have said this ISN'T a standard practice, and that she never filled the paperwork out anyhow, that her PA filled them out, or the corporate attorney.

Onto my visit. Since I had not been able to have refills on my diabetic medications since October because of my physicians wanting me to come back in to "have a visit" (close to the holidays, and he always pulls this), and my follow-up visit for diabetes wasn't until late December, my blood sugar and A1Cs were above 9.8. They had been down at 7 and below. My blood sugar had been running at 85-105, and my neuropathy had pretty much come under control. He wasn't happy about that, wanted to up my insulin and other diabetic meds, which would once again throw my diabetes out of control. We started looking for another doctor...but because of the "pandemic" were unable to find one that was taking new patients in our area until just last month. At any rate, the doctor kept me off all of the previous meds and put me on Rybelsus (can cause thyroid and kidney cancer), and Trelegy for my COPD/Asthma. He wants me to go through another sleep study as my heart rhythm isn't correct and my sleep patterns aren't good either. Because of my bilateral Meniere's disease, and recent falls, he is talking about putting me into a wheelchair. He's going to wait anywhere between six to twelve months to decide. He is a D.O. and MD. Very thorough, I must say. The visit last Monday went swimmingly. I was very impressed with this young man. Very personable, and cared about what was going on. He did mention that my myocarditis was possibly turning into heart failure. I had already figured this.

Please pray that the Lord will lead through all of these things for my wife and I. It's been a rough year with our physicians, COVID, and the death of several family members and friends. We have many decisions we are facing right now, the biggest one being whether or not the Lord wants us to move back home to Augusta, GA to be near family and friends. At our age, and in our health, it would be a hard move, but, we could possibly do it with help...and we have that if we need it. We are in the process of decluttering and fixing up things in the house in case we need to sell. We'd appreciate prayers for guidance.

Thanks in advance.

I'm so glad you found a doctor that truly wants to help. As to the disability, it is often a long, hard journey to get. If I could make a suggestion: begin the process now. Most of the time it is refused the first time, but if that happens, keep pursuing it. It sounds very much like your wife needs to retire (I'm sure you're in complete agreement!).

Praying for wisdom and guidance.
