Using discernment works for me. :pray When I speak of NOT judging a person, that is exactly what I mean. How can I know what is inside of a person's heart, when I don't even know my own heart? Jesus Christ is the JUDGE not me!!!

Matthew 7:1...JUDGE not , that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. KJV...The words of Lord Our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Jeremiah 17:9...The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? KJV

P.S. ~ It is my opinion that you like to argue, Jerry...for the sake of arguing. Is this your primary goal in life?

That is certainly the best starting place. If you are sincerely searching for truth' date=' God will bless you for taking and applying what you already understand from the Word of God.... [/quote']
Jerry, thank you so much for taking the time to post all that! What I always like about your advice is that it is practical and instructive as well as wise and I surely need that right now. The church I am attending at the moment gives very good sermons--it seems to me at least--and your words have made me a lot more comfortable about continuing there despite the smaller doctrinal differences that church might have with the consensus on this forum.

Please do pray for me--I would be so grateful.

No - but I care about the truth more than anything else and hate it when someone continues to quote Christian fallacies. The Bible never tells us not to judge - it tells us the exact opposite. What you are stating in several of your recent posts is taking one verse out of its overall context and giving it the opposite meaning. What that passage forbids is hypocritical judging, not judging in general.

Well, then...by all means, Jerry...feel free to ridicule :smug: w/o being constructive in your approach. I love that! NOT!

What in my post was ridicule? I stated several times you are wrong in what you are saying verse 1 means - because you are divorcing it from the rest of the context. I gave the context in another post and referred to other passages that show how we are to judge. Hm, last I checked, there was even a book of the Bible called Judges...

Philippians 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

Hebrews 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

You do realize you just made a judgement don't you candlelight? See the impossibility of not Judging? :wink At any rate, Jerry is correct here, and if you would like a constructive discussion of this issue using scripture, please start a thread and we can go from there.

I am not that smart. :lol I need things explained to me, in simplicity. I have only been a believer since May 9,2003. I went from the RCC to the IFB with no in between. If you throw scripture at me...and, you don't explain it to me in simple terms...I don't get it. Yes, I completely understand the KJV Bible, but I get confused on this forum at times. Sorry for the mis-undertanding here...I am "trying" to learn. Some Christians on here are way above my mentality in their thinking...and, it is difficult at times for me. :puzzled:

Thanks Seth...I see what you are talking about. I apologize. See the post to Jerry, and you will understand where I am coming from, hopefully. :smile

No problem, Jerry may not always word things in the best way at times, but he has apologized and requested prayer for it in the past and the Lord is helping him with that. I am sure others as well as I have noticed the Lord has been giving him more grace in that area. Anyway, he is generally right on doctrinally, and we all have our areas of failings. If anyone has a problem with the way someone puts something it just comes under the category of the parable in Matthew 18:21-35. These verses are also applicable.

"1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins."

"James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

Jesus has freely and totally forgiven each of us for a great number of shortcomings, we can't afford to forgive others any less.

Good Morning, Jerry...I should be the one to apologize to you! You are very knowledgable on God's Holy word. I get caught "off guard" sometimes w/ your posts b/c they are waaay above my comprehension (That is a compliment...BTW). Please pray for me. :pray This is the first Christian, much less...IFB forum that I have had the privilege of joining. :thumb Sometimes, I feel ignorant...but, I am learning. You are "Right on" Biblically...and I know it. Believe me, conviction...cuts like a knife. :lol You just make me think more than the average IFB is all. No offense to the other brothers and sisters in Christ. You guys are great...and full of wisdom! Again, my sincere apologies to you, Jerry. Keep the scriptures coming...they are wonderfully helpful! They truly make me think...and then, some. :ideas:

There is also the option of continuing to search the area. For two years I have lived in my area and never found IFB church and we've tried a bunch of other baptist churches only to find something that didn't line up. Most of the time it was NIV. Come to find out one of the forum members right here (just found this website a couple days ago.) links to a website that links to a IFB KJVO church right here in my town. We never found it, via google or driving. Weirdest thing. Ah well, all in God's timing. Anyway the point is, don't give up, and don't let your hopes down just yet. You never know what will pop-up. I'm excited and can't wait to check out this church. Oh, I so hope it's biblical. :pray

Just because a church isn't IFB doesn't mean it isn't a church. I've been to non-IFB churches that had some of the most Christ-like, godly people I've ever met, and then I've been to IFB churches before where I felt like I was in a room full of Pharisees who wouldn't know Jesus if He came galloping in on a white horse.

Try local churches. Test the spirits. Don't rely upon the name of the church of the denomination to tell you whether or not it's a good church. See Westboro "Baptist" for a shining example of that.

Don't come to our KJVonly IFB website and then try telling our other members that being KJVonly and being IFB does not matter. That won't get you far here - and is not welcome. God cares about truth and He cares about separation. No one is saying all other Christians are apostate and that there is no truth in MVs at all - BUT there are reasons most members here are KJVonly and IFB.
