Our sheep don't really have wool. Some of them grow a little bit of "undercoat" during the winter but they shed it in late spring/early summer.. They're a breed of "hair sheep". But you should be able to find some farms with wool sheep where you live. You might check on Craigslist.

unfortunately we don't have room to raise sheep.  Someday we hope to be blessed with a farm in Pocahontas Co., WV.  So far it hasn't worked out for us, but hope springs eternal!

I was meaning you might be able to buy some wool on Craigslist. You can also buy Alpaca fleece which is very high quality fiber. I don't know what town you are near, in WV, but here is some wool near Morgantown.. http://westmd.craigslist.org/grd/5272712002.html

Here is some Alpaca  http://roanoke.craigslist.org/for/5242854579.html

Boy, do it while you're young! get some age under your belt and all that fun is hefty labor! My wife and I in our fifties are beginning to wonder if we have made the right decision, and we generally just have goats. Just had baby season, I believe about 30 kids on the ground. The last of the slow learners have finally begun eating on their own, so we are relieved of the twice-daily routine of holding udders for slow kids.

I know what you mean.  Hubby is 50, 46% disabled (military-connected) and it will only be getting worse, but he still wants that farm.  I've stopped pointing out that the hard work he once enjoyed won't be so enjoyable in a few years....

I'm in Charleston.  Maybe in a year or so I can get a spinning wheel, then we can go out and visit hubby's cousin in Arkansas who spins and weaves and she can teach me :D

It looks like, If God doesn't intervene, our grand daughter in the photo will be in a broken home. Our daughter in law is in the process of divorcing our son. She is still living in the house with him until she can find a job and her own place. She filed the papers yesterday. I would appreciate all your prayers.
