Has anyone else read this? I'm about half done and it is an excellent read! Highly recommended.

For those unfamiliar it is about a priest in Canada in early to mid 19th century and about his experiences as a priest and his study of the bible and early Catholic history and books by early Catholic popes.

Miss Daisy,

I have read the book, "50 Years in Rome," by Charles Chiniquy. The book is excellent and every Christian should read it. The book is available by Chick Publications. I would highly recommend every person on OnLine Baptist obtains a copy and as they read it take notes. "50 Years in Rome,"  is as applicable today as it was when it was written and it is written for the layman to read and enjoy. Thank you for bringing, "50 Years in Rome," to everyone's attention.

It is called  "50 Years in the Church of Rome, "Yes I have this and read it.  I have the Chick version.  When I bought it, the bookstore also had the original at the same price.  I wish I had bought that instead as I believe the Chick version is abridged.  The store also has his follow up book, 40 years in the Church of Christ.  I haven't read that.

The bookstore owner had an epileptic fit and collapsed crossing a road and was killed by a car, Very sad.  The shop closed soon after that.  His son and wife tried to keep it going without success.

Invicta,

Thank you for correcting me and giving us all the correct, and complete, title of the book, "50 Years in the Church of Rome." I read the book many years ago and I am now overseas and the book is sitting on our shelf somewhere in our library in the States. Alas! My memory is not what it used to be and my brain also sometimes sits on the shelf.

I was looking on Amazon today and there are other books they show with his name as author. I saw the Church of Christ one but there was no description so I wasn't sure if that was his or not. He must've  died quite old then. 50 in Rome and 40 in CoC. I also saw his book something like Women and Auricular Confession.

I have the flu, on day 5 so I'm able to do a lot of reading past few days.

There is one by him called The Priest, the Woman and the Confessional.  I have read that, but I think it is just excerpts from 50 years.

Hope you feel better soon.
