Members MountainChristian Posted June 18, 2014 Members Posted June 18, 2014 May the Lord Jesus uphold him at this dreadful time, & give him peace. Betrayal by our loved ones must be about the worst experience we can suffer. May those around him, including church officers maintain their trust in him & speak up for him & to him. One of my sons has been abandoned twice by a supposedly Christian wife. The first the daughter of a church elder of a charismatic church. Someone had prophesied she would marry her next boyfriend before she was 20. The prophet omitted to say she would be unmarried before she was 21. She left him to sleep with one of his friends. Several years later he married the daughter of a Methodist Pastor (who had died in his 40s from a brain hemorhage. They have two lovely children, now 8 & 5, he is a good provider & did a lot of work on the house, but she suddenly decided after 10 years of apparently happy marriage that she wanted a divorce, with no remotely valid reason. The divorce court judge rejected the arguments claiming propery rights & divided everything. That enabled him to buy a house for himself. We stay with him when necessary to look after the children when his wife doesn't want them in holidays & he has to work. He is a Christian in a charismatic church. It's an increasing prOBlem it seems. Several couples in our small church are in trouble. Covenanter, I'll be praying for him too.

Members John81 Posted June 18, 2014 Author Members Posted June 18, 2014 I appreciate all the prayers. It's sad to think that after over 30 years of marriage this pastor's wife would either allow herself to become attracted to another man and pursue it, or allowed that man to flirt with her and not shut it down immediately. The devil is intent upon attacking pastors and their families. It's so sad to see this one become a casualty. Thankfully, as difficult as it has been (the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak) this pastor has done a great jOB of keeping his flesh in check and turning everything over to the Lord. These past several months he's been in intense prayer and the Lord has blessed that time even if not in the area of bringing his wife back to him. As it looks now, his wife was stringing him along waiting for her adulterer cohort to break things with his wife before she told the pastor about her affair (adultery) and dropped unexpected divorce papers on him. While there were hopes for reconciliation before that, the chances seem very slim to none now. He pastors a small church so his dedication as a loving husband and father are well known and without doubt. He also quickly reported this to the men who lead in the church, and then to other men close to him. Thus it's well known this pastor took every reasonable measure to restore their marriage. With his wife having committed adultery and with it being her filing for divorce, the leadership in the church have determined the pastor has done nothing worthy of losing his pastors position. Please continue to pray. My friend (the pastor) is still reeling from this, will now have to deal with a divorce, and now that this has been made public he will be facing the words of many folks, both good and bad.

Will continue to pray about this. I know the pain and confusion. The Lord will uphold him, and its good to see the church supporting him and not throwing him out like yesterdays moldy guacamole! Perhpas God will use this as a blessing to the church as a whole-perhaps they have not grown because there was sin in the camp, and with her gone, it may allow the Lord to move more freely!
