The militant Catholics come here to "evangelize" their false gospel every once in awhile. :roll

Yep and those are the very types I was talking about. They are hardened against the Gospel and the Word tells us not to cast our pearls before swine so they be not trampled in the mud.

How can they believe that sprinkling a baby with water does anything except get the baby wet? :bonk:

How can praying for dead people help them get into heaven? Once they are dead it is too late! :bonk:

How can Jesus hear prayers when they are addressed to his Mommy or one of those other Saints? Do Catholics EVER talk to Jesus himself? :bonk:

How can a priest forgive you of your sins, when the Bible says that only Jesus can forgive sins? :bonk:

:goodpost: IM! Oh, yeah...I was sprinkled as an infant---so that is alright? According to the RCC dogma, it is. LOL.

Yep. Dead means dead! They are gone. Now, praying for the members of the family is a MUCH different story. BTW, usually an RCC funeral is so morbid, but the party afterward is a wild bash.

It is sad, that Catholics feel the need to confess their sins to a priest who gives them several Our Fathers and Hail Marys to say---to get "absolution." Oh boy.

The priest is "mortal" man---but, we know that the RCC people are trained to believe he is above that. :coffee

I John 1:9...If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. KJV 1611 AV.

who take the Bible too literally and reject the TRADITIONS that are so important to the RCC.

Literally is the only way to take the Bible  ; however, the RCC is based on "traditions" and sentiments. Sadly, tradition and sentiment doesn't get a person into heaven. :sad

With the RCC' date=' traditions and edicts by the Pope are equal to (actually, superceeding) Scripture and thus they easily get around those aspects of Scripture they don't want to hold to. [/quote']

I loved what my dad used to say. "There is MORE corruption in the Vatican...than there is in the Federal Government." He also used to say. "I am NOT going to listen to a man in a chair"---speaking of Rome.

Nope. Just boring rules and regulations. "Do this...do that...go here...go there." The RCC people are like trained robots. It is so sad, indeed.

And even if they die with all the sacraments, having said their Hail Mary's faithfully every single day, they still do not believe they will get into heaven - the best they have to hope for is Purgatory. Heaven is like "first class" on an airline - reserved for weathly families who can afford to pay their indulgences.

We shouldn't forget there are millions of Orthodox out there who hold very similar beliefs to the Catholics. The Orthodox claim the Catholics split from them and the Catholics claim the Orthodox split from them, but the point is they were all part of the same "Church" until the Roman priest decided to become a Pope with special powers. Then the two split.

So, the views they shared prior to that split they basically hold the same today.

Orthodox also pray to and for the dead; they also have their idols (er, you know, what they call their "icons"), they pray to Mary, they bury bodies or parts of bodies of "saints" under their churches or in their "pulpit areas" (forgot what they call those).

There are Greek Orthodox, Eastern Orthodox and I think some subsets, they don't agree on all points, they don't have a central authority (no Pope, no Vatican), but they hold to the basics and are mostly about Tradition as is the RCC.

While we have talked about how the RCC has been busy wooing Protestant denominations back under their wing, we should recognize the fact the RCC has been busy trying to woo the Orthodox under their wing and we've touched on the fact the RCC has been making inroads with some Muslims as well.

One thing I noticed when reading the history of the RCC, for most of their history the entire movement was so much more about politics and power than religion. The religion aspect was only a side issue used to gain political power and influence (more power) over leaders, nations and whole populations.

The intrigue that went on among the Catholic churches, what the Popes and priests were up to, was all about corruption for the sake of power and political gain. Murder, bribery, assasinations and even wars were all within their modus operandi for attaining the political power they craved.

They can woo all they want to John - what I am worried about is what they will do when the wooing doesn't work! whew! :pray :bible:

Yeah, I'm not interested in their wooing as Jesus has already won me!

Once they manage to woo enough under their wings they will deal with true Christians the way they once did. Threats and torture to convert or death upon refusal. Hmmm, sounds like something I've read in the book of Revelation!

Convents are wicked and evil places - the orphanges the Sisters run often contain the infants of the nuns themselves. Those babies "left on their doorsteps" are often the illigitimate children of the parish priest!

Yes, I've read about several convents where underground chambers were discovered filled with the remains of babies that had been aborted or left die immediately after birth. These were said to be the results of priests having sex with the nuns. Of course such actions were justified by them since they claimed the babies were okay since they were all "baptized" and had been prayed over.

:goodpost: Janet! Having been raised in Vatican II (the face lift) "Purgatory" was the scariest thing to me. So...I would be floating arond in "limbo land?" I knew that my family didn't have the money to get me out of there...so, I would be stuck for an eternity? Goodness gracious!! :eek Hell was only preached on for the murderers and people who committed suicide? :puzzled:

Didn't the current Pope decide to do away with purgatory? I read something about that but don't remember much else.

The Traditional Catholics reject Vatican II and every Pope from that time to today. They claim all those popes were false, Vatican II has no legitimacy and one day pre-Vatican II ways will be re-established along with a proper Pope.

One thing really struck me when reading of their history and that was the concept of indulgences. Early on the church really worked that angle to make huge amounts of money. Imagine folks accepting the idea they can premediate sin, go and give a priest however much money he says it will take for God to be appeased, and then go forth and commit that sin with a clear conscience!

:amen::goodpost: John. YES, this is 100% accurate!
