Static electricity can be a nuisance! The easiest way to stop it is to run a good humidifier. It will keep you busy filling it for a while, but the air in your home will feel better and your furnace will not run as much.
Sometimes certain types of carpeting can cause more static electricity than other kinds. We live in a house with hardwood floors and linoleum floors, and we have no static electricity.
We attended a church many years ago that had new carpet and everyone got shocked big time!!
Hope this info helps. CJP56

My whole house is hardwood floor. The only place that have a carpet is the computer room. I don't really own any rugs except one big one in the near the kitchen back door and a little one near the kitchen sink. And my son has little one in his room.

I think a good humidifier is the best I can do.

Certain shoes that I wear cause me to get shocked many times when I touch a faucet. 2 times recently I've shocked my wife quite good in the morning kissing her good bye.

I know its these moccasins house shoes I wear, for without them it never happens, and until we changed carpet it did not happen.

Yes, sometime the sparks are quite bright, but worse if the kick them have behind them, it will make you holler out from shock.

There are many things that can cause static electricity, but more than likely its not a problem with the wriing in you house.

You know its recommended that one grounds their self before touching anything inside of you computer for static electricity can ruin certain parts within it.

I've heard of anti-static shoes, but I don't think I'll wear them. I love being barefooted. But you know, i could have worn shoes when my cochlear corrupted though.

I'm just the opposite, I don't like to be barefooted, my feet will get cold.

I think you mentioned a heat pump, that's what we have, our house is total electric. When we put it in our heating bill for winter months went way down.
