I'm looking for some good biographies of great (1) Baptist Men of God or (2) from the denominations before they went liberal.

Time period...1790s-1930s. I don't want anything from the modern era.

Name of author and book title would be great! If you have a link it would be greatly appreciated.

Biographies of people I think I would enjoy reading…

John Calvin
Dwight L Moody
Charles G Finney
William Sunday
C.H. Spurgeon
Noah Webster
John Bunyan

Thanks

I have several of those. Sword of the Lord offers some also at: "www.jesus-is-savior.com/Great Men of God/great_men_of_god.htm"

Billly Sunday's bio, "The Real Billy Sunday" by Elijah P. Brown.
Larry Harrison, Christian Book gallery
9066 Knickerbocker, St John, In. 46373 (May be out of print now)

Charles Finney by basil Milller
(Paperback)
Bethany House publishers
Minneapolis Minn. 55438

D.L. Moody
"the greatest evangelist of the nineteenth century"
(paperback)
By Faith Cox Bailey
From Moody Press,
Chicago.

John Bunyan Writer of "Pilgrims Progress"
By Sandy Dengler
Moody Press,
Chicago

Those, and a lot more. One really good one is John Jasper, a negro slave preacher, written in his own dialect; and Peter Cartwright a Methodist circuit-riding preacher that used to get off his horse and fight at the drop of a hat.

The Life and Diary of David Brainerd by Jonathan Edwards

You might want to check out Reese Chronological Encyclopedia of Christian Biographies by Edward Reese. I know a lot of the brethren don't like this book because of some of the folks included in it but I would still highly recommend it. It's a good starting point if you want to delve into someone's life more thoroughly.
