Paul also said we need to "persuade" men to get saved.

2 Corinthians 5:11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

Acts 26:28-29 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. 29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

We need to communicate the gospel with a sense of urgency, it's life or death stuff, heaven or hell, so it shouldn't be taken lightly by our unsaved audience and it would be better for them to get saved sooner rather than later.

Nothing wrong with that. What is meant by pushing is when folks try to force the lost person to "make a decision". Once we have told them the Gospel, told them they may never get another chance, it's up to the Holy Ghost. We are not to keep insisting they "make a decision" right now. That's not biblical. For some, we are only the seed planters or waterers, there are other who are to reap that particular harvest at another time.

As Jerry has so rightly pointed out, if pressed to "make a decision" many will make a false declaration just to get rid of you. For many at that point either the hearts are hardened against the Gospel or they walk away with a false sense of security and close their ears to the Gospel.

Persuading someone is not pushing them. Yes, kind of like the pastor, he was busy persuading that family to accept Christ and he refused to leave their house until they made a profession of faith. Finally after midnight the head of the family realized that he would not leave until they made a profession of faith, so they made the profession of faith just to get him out of their house.

And yes, its a true story of a dangerous pusher as told by the deacon that was with him. This deacon said I was totally embarrassed and tried to get him to leave but he refused.
