How Great Thou Art is a top hymn. I think more use needs to be made of the totally a-Biblical argument that modern worship music is bad because it is bad--i.e. the the melodies are rubbish, the words are hackneyed and boring and the instruments used just don't work in the acoustics of a church. I'm not a musician and even I can see that.

Carl, I was going to answer yours earlier, but the wife said, its 5:30, we are suppose to be at my brothers house at 6:00, we did not make it, we were late. But its not although my fault, for I quickly went and stood by the front door waiting, yet it was about 5:48 when she finally walked out the front door.

How Great Thou Art is surely one of the great ones, I love it, yet I can say that about so many. A few years back we were at a backwoods country church listing to a group from that church sing. I noticed one singer said this about almost every song, "This is my favorite one." Later on he stated, "I know I've been saying every song we sing is my favorite one, I guess all of them are my favorites." Some of them laughed when he said that, I just silently nodded my head thinking, "I know what you mean."

I'm no musician either, nor singer, but I grew up in a house with a mother who played the piano wonderfully. I don't believe there was a single gospel song that she could not play. As a young boy it seemed someone was coming by our house after supper every night to practice singing, if no one come she would be practicing. I yern for the sound I heard back in those years as I would ride my bicycle around our house, hearing the sounds from the piano flowing through the windows. Thinking back is was a heavenly sound to my young ears. And to think, I will get to be with her once again sometime in the future. For the child of God living on this earth, its so true, the best is yet to come.
