Sunday service was great, lunch was fantastic, you've had a little nap, can it get any better. You call the wife and children, "Hey, come in here, there's something I want you to see!"

The family files in, sits down, when all of the sudden, BOOM!!! Into the room burst several huge men and they begin slamming into each other violently. It's insane, the family looks on with shock. SLAM, UGH, THUMP! Several fall to the ground, one is badly injured, a torn shoulder muscle. They drag him to the side, he is writhing in pain. The big guys go at it again.

After a few more slams, they take a seat off to the side for a momment, and in comes a well dressed man with something in his hand. "Aren't you thirsty?" he asks you and the Christian family. "That's why I brought, BEER! Cold, sudsy, gives you a buzz. You might even drive afterwards and kill someone and send them straight to hell!" A voice from somewhere says, "This message has been brought to you by the beer counsel, please drink responsibly!" Yeh, right!

The big guys go at it again. WHAM, SLAM, UGH! Another one hits the ground, he has tore his ham string, isn't this edifying? They continue for a while and then in from the side come...BIMBOS, ten of them, count them TEN. They are very immodestly clad, and they start to jump, dance, and gyrate there in front of you, your (chaste) wife, and children. BOY IS SHE MAD...at you. The big guys continue again. Growing weary of their activity which is taking serious toal on their bodies, they again go to the side to rest.

Music starts, pop music and out comes the popular HARLOT and her DANDY boy. They sing and dance and then he suddenly rips a part of her outfit off and she is exposing herself almost entirely nude in one area! You thought the dancing girls made your wife mad, NOW SHE'S REALLY MAD...at you. You sit in silence. The children watch in shock.

The big guys go at it again. BLAM, WHAM, RIP! There goes one of the big guys thigh muscle. He grabs it and cries out in pain. They drag him off to the side. They continue again with their sick game of pain and violence. Soon a guy in a striped shirt comes rushing in, calls one group the victors, and they all shout...it's over.

Violence, immodesty, alcohol, worldly music, and more...all in your livingroom. You tried to look away from the bad stuff, but you saw most of it, and tragically so did the children and good wife. Afterall, you invited this into your livingroom when you decided to watch...THE SUPERBOWL. Or, any other sport these days. Even golf isn't safe with the sex fiend, Tiger Woods, on the loose. It isn't 1955 anymore. Even everyones darling, O.J. Simpson is a killer.

There! I've trampled on the sacred!

But why! Why are we watching this stuff? What is the blood-bought bride doing watching this stuff? Do you think the apostles would have watched this? How about the martyrs? How about our Beloved Jesus?

Psa 101:3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; [it] shall not cleave to me.

Sure, that's O.T. but does it spiritually apply to us still? Is beer, immodesty, and senseless violence wicked or righteous?
These people are infidels. These are the wicked offscouring of the world. The apostle said:

2Cr 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2Cr 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
2Cr 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
2Cr 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you,
2Cr 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

We need revival men. That is what is needed and it is not going to be men who fill their eyes and minds with modern day sports. I urgently desire that God would make again a nation of godly men to run our families, and churches. Turn, men, turn from this stuff.

"Turn us, O God of our salvation..."
Psa 85:6 "Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?"

I know some will think this ill, but is born out of a heartcry for revival. Awake brothers.

:amen: Brother!

O How we do need a revival in the hearts of God's people. It's terribly sad the amount of apathy and wickedness that many Christians allow into their homes and their hearts.

I understand everything you say. I don't watch one pro game's worth of football per year. When my favorite college team plays the commercials are just as bad, especially BOWL games.

However, I would like to see the ad with Tebow's mother. I think there is a website that will show superbowl ads after the game so, maybe I can check that without wading through the Budwieser is the king ads.

You are absolutely correct, I did not say, I would stop watching my favorite college team.

Yes, we definitely need revival; why not start here, and now? Let's get back to God instead of amusing ourselves with great anecdotes and witty sayings on this forum! We all have something to contribute--something that others have not yet learned, or "skipped over" from the Word of God. Revival begins in the heart, so let's put our hearts into it.

Excellent post, brother, I figured you were watching wrestling, but the description fits them both! Although I love football, I do not spend a lot of time watching it; and my team is not even close to super-bowl material, so I am out for the season.)

Great point and great analogy.

Billy Sunday - I believe there is no doctrine more dangerous to the Church today than to convey the impression that a revival is something peculiar in itself and cannot be judged by the same rules of causes and effect as other things.
