Hi Everybody, We see the price of petroleum fuels, and instead of groaning at it or letting it destroy us slowly, let's unite and do something about it. I'll bet we've all heard the story of the frog that was cooked (or frozen) alive because it was done so slowly that it (the frog) didn't realize it was happening. What we need is an engine of high efficiency that will achieve tremendously high mileage. The engine in your car is extremely inefficient if it's a standard gasoline type. If it's a diesel powered auto, the efficiency will not be much better. On the other hand, if you have a hybrid (i.e. gasoline and electric), it gets better mileage, only because it's…

Railroading is what made this country what it is today with all our modern conveniences. Your town probably didn't exsist until the tracks were put down and the first train pulled in. The reason Germany was so hard to beat wasn't because of how crazy Hitler was or how hard or smart the Germans were...it was because they had an infrastructure of railroads that allowed them to move mega tons of food, fuel, ammunition and troops to virtually any place in Germany or attached and be there ready to pound us. If you doubt me ask any one who fought in Germany. Plus the next time you hit a pothole with your car or truck, remember that before train tracks were being torn up a…

Sports collectables

I was pretty heavy into collecting baseball cards a few years ago, but that has slowed down a bit. I still enjoy looking at cards when i see them on sale, and on occassion my wife allows me to pick a few up here and there. I also collect sports collectables of all sorts. I'm a Colorado Avalanch fan, so i do have several hockey related toys for that team. I also collect a lot of LSU stuff, especially related to last years BCS Natl Championship. As for my "Pride and Joys" i have an 8x10 photo of the last pitch of Nolan Ryan's 6th no hitter and an autographed picture of Jack Youngblood from the year he went into the NFL Hall of Fame.

I sew just about everything I wear, including my husband's suits, formal gowns and underclothes. I've competed in a couple contests as well and won some Pendleton fabric. I am a beginning quilter. It is hard to make all the points line up! With dressmaking you can fudge on the seam allowances. Anyway, I am working on a patriotic bedspread with a Debbie Mumm pattern. I am hooked in silk painting too. I enjoy painting and designing my own scarves because silk scarves cost about $50 to buy, when I can make one myself for about $2! I am a beginning scrapbooker too. I am working on an album for my two dogs :D and my first album was a tribute to my Uncle who died this …

Does anyone here collect dolls? I am looking at starting a Raggedy Ann and Andy collection. I have a few things, but I believe I will start my focus on them, and decorate my living room with them.

My dad used to do a lot of woodworking when I was growing up. My parents have some beautiful furniture that he's made. I always loved helping him clean and stain the furniture he made...and loved making small knick-knacks out of his scrap wood myself. This has always been interesting to me, but I've never been able to do it due to lack of (expensive) carpentry tools. Well, just recently, my husband bought me a power sander...one of the tools on my wish list. I was able to start refinishing a table I got at a great price (there's a reason it was cheap!!! :D ) and I'm having a blast!!! I'm so excited...there are so many pieces of furniture that could use a re-finish…

Mmmmm, bowling and speed chess simultaneously. Except...I can't bowl to save my life! We had to play really fast so we could get ready to run down and bowl a frame when it was our turn...Well, that's what I was doing at least. My wussy friend on the right in the top picture only did them one at a time. Now if only I knew where that pic was of me playing bughouse chess at the zoo!
