Since the "primary" claim to supremacy of the Catholic church is an unbroken line of apostolic succession ask them to explain this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antipope I haven't yet located this discussed in their own literature but I find it sad and comical that with such a history they are still so deluded. This is just a sick glimpse of where most "emergent" and "seeker sensitive" churches are headed. 'A female dancer dances in a skin coloured stocking in the middle of the church in front of the altar. She crawls about on the floor and wraps herself in a hanging down white cloth. Is this a blasphemous provocation, a scoffing at the Christian religion? 'No it is only one of the items on the agenda of the Protestant Church Assembly. The six-hundred-year-old church, the Church of the Carthusians in the south of Cologne has become the stage for an erotic church service. Nearly one thousand interested people waited outside the door of the former monastery, despite a thunderst…

I just returned from a day trip to St. Augustine, FL. We did a tour around town on a trolley, stopped at a couple of history museums and had a nice lunch there, but something about the day did not "sit right" with me...so when I returned home I have done some additional checking, beyond just the usual tourist attractions, etc. What I discovered gave me the creeps!!! http://www.americancatholic.org/Messeng ... ature2.asp

We must take great care when witnessing to, and debating, those in false religions, that we take great pains to try to represent their position accurately. Far too often, Christians build strawmen(often unknowingly) of their opponents, and knock them down easily, at which point the person in the false religion is like "Yeah, so? I don't believe that." When we misrepresent their religion, we give a bad testimony. One way to avoid doing this, is when witnessing, to ask them what they believe. Not merely go by what you *think* their religion teaches. Mormonism is a great example of this. Even the official Mormon publications come with a disclaimer stating "not everything …

If humans were evacuated, the Earth would flourish. July 23, 2007 issue - The Second Coming may be the most widely anticipated apocalypse ever, but it's far from the only version of the end times. Environmentalists have their own eschatology?a vision of a world not consumed by holy fire but returned to ecological balance by the removal of the most disruptive species in history. That, of course, would be us, the 6 billion furiously metabolizing and reproducing human beings polluting its surface. There's even a group trying to bring it about, the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement, whose Web site calls on people to stop having children altogether. And now the journalist …

I was having a conversation with a RCC neighbor today and she was telling me all about Pope Joan. I argued with her a little bit about it, but she was adamant that there really was a female Pope, so I thought I would look it up when I came home. This is an very interesting article that I found... http://abcnews.go.com/Primetime/Story?id=1453197&page=1

How about the protestant churches? As baptists we generally don't consider ourselves as protestants. Would we consider them false religions? Lutheran, Presbys, Methodists, Anglicans at the very least practice infant baptism and often have other differences (view of communion) than we do, though they tend not to be dealt with on the same level as JW/Mormon/Catholic differences. :ears:

Fk7joE1vAI Pope: Other Christians not true churches By NICOLE WINFIELD, Associated Press Writer Tue Jul 10, 3:59 PM ET LORENZAGO DI CADORE, Italy - Pope Benedict XVI reasserted the primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says other Christian communities are either defective or not true churches and Catholicism provides the only true path to salvation. The statement brought swift criticism from Protestant leaders. "It makes us question whether we are indeed praying together for Christia…

In the United States, most Christians say that they observe Sunday, the first day of the week, at least in part, to commemorate the resurrection which they believe took place on the first day of the week. Does anyone know, in those areas of Europe that use a calendar that labels the seventh day of the week,

I don't know if this article belongs in this forum--if not, please move it to the appropriate forum--thanks. I receive the Lighthouse Trails Research Newsletter and I found this article interesting in the light of the fact that we are in the last days and our adversary, the devil is seeking to destroy God's Word, blind the eyes of the lost and weaken the faith of God's children. Whatever happened to "Without the shedding of blood there is no remission"? (Hebrews 9:22) Why is the "blood" removed from most modern versions of the Bible? I believe that we are in the last days and the apostasy is increasing. Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season;…

Why does the bible mention bishops?

If the episcopal form of church governance is wrong, why does the Bible mention bishops? Or maybe a better question is, what exactly is a bishop in the Bible? The Bible mentions bishops in a number of places: 1 Timothy 3:1 KJV This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 1 Timothy 3:2 KJV A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 2 Timothy 4:22 KJV The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen. Titus 1:7 KJV For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wi…

The general consensus on this site seems to be, "NO, they aren't even Christian!" I personally believe that they are indeed Christians from what I have seen and witnessed and from the personal research I have done, especially on early church fathers and the creation of the Bible. But this poll is to see what you think.

I am curious about them because everywhere I go, I see them. They are not Amish nor anabaptist, but in between. I had several friends who are children of Old german baptists, but I never ask them about their religion. My son have several classmates too. This is all I can find about them: http://religiousmovements.lib.virginia. ... thren.html Do you think they got the right idea of salvation (never mind about their good works) or Do they believe you can lose your salvation? BTW, this is how I can tell they are old german baptist. They usually dress like this: http://www.schumann.com/dhtml/Brethren/brethren.html

Hi, I was told that this topic would be more appropriate here instead of in the Introductions. I'm currently an English teacher in Bulgaria and within the last year have returned to the faith. I am finding great comfort and joy in this faith. I have many questions though. I will begin with only this one though: I have met many great people here in my two years and have enjoyed learning and seeing their faith. It seems like all the people here are either Orthodox or Catholic, and very devoted. My question, the people seem very kind and loving and they have extended to me the hospitality and caring that Jesus spoke about in the Gospels. How come there is so much negative fe…
