Nor do I. As of 30 minutes ago I have been running a 101 temp and have started with a headache and chills. UGH! This back and forth weather hasn't helped. Running in and out with these 3 dogs hasn't helped. Thank the good Lord that Vivian is home today and tomorrow. We've got 2 friends and their families that have come down with fevers and chills just yesterday. Someone wanted me to run a home test for COVID, but I'm not likely to do that.

Glad everyone is on the mend. Here I have been down with bronchitis and pneumonia for almost 12 days but I am starting to gain ground against it. Prayers for you and your family and the church there. Blessings.

ABC's Of Heaven's Glory (Three Acrostic/Alphabet Poems)
BrotherTony replied to Jerry's topic in Writings and Poetry

So, you're equating the KJV as the only "truth?" TBH, I only use the KJV in my writing, preaching, and teaching. But, unlike those who hold to the "only" position I am not opposed to people using other translations. Many have "the truth" who have never used the KJV, weren't converted to Christ under the KJV, and who would probably never come to use the KJV. God is not limited to the KJV. Many would love to limit him to their chosen version. But, this conversation is not the purpose of this thread.

Very true. I've tried to show that there are SOME who are hateful but that the majority are kind, loving people. Still, with the post pandemic church there is a growing trend towards hateful representation.

I'll have to try that one. Sounds delicious!

We do the same with the whipped cream. All of us kids loved the lime, cherry, and strawberry. After my mother brought one to a church supper in 1974, many of the ladies started bringing them to church functions.

In talking with several people that I am in contact with through physical therapy, grocery shopping, my wife's place of employment, etc, I have been asked many times why Christians are so hateful when they are talking to people. I asked for examples, and some of them were shocking, many of them being from Baptist pastors, deacons, and laypeople. I'm going to list several of the conversations, abbreviated.... 1) A young man my wife works with went to a Baptist church to visit with the possibility of becoming a member with his wife and three children. They visited an I(big "I" little you) FB church. It's a pretty well-known church in the Nashville area. They went to Sunday school where the SS teacher was bashing a local community church pastor ministry because he had allowed a local Gideon missionary to come and speak. He had a great presentation, and he gave the Gospel during his presentation. Two people were saved during the service, but, there was one thing that this IFB pastor had focused on. The Gideon missionary didn't use the KJV, but instead used the ESV, his message being that the fields were all ready to be harvested. This pastor said nothing about the two souls won, nothing about how the Holy Spirit used the ESV in his work. He was so derogatory in his criticism of this local pastor that he ended up losing two of his own members and families who had questioned him on his stances over the past few years. When he talked to the two families it wasn't to try and find out their concerns, it was instead to attack them as heretics, people who were spreading discord among the brethren, which was not the case, and ones who wanted to destroy the KJV and the ministry that they were setting under. Apparently, the pastor felt threatened, and it was very apparent that he felt attacked for no reason....The young man who visited the church with his family (he doesn't use the KJV, but instead uses the NLT, which was used in leading him to the Lord several years ago) was very upset about the things going on. He asked for a few minutes with the pastor, but, the pastor said that since he wasn't a member he didn't owe this man any time, nor did he owe him an explanation. This hasn't been uncommon here in our area. 2) A young man that I have been in contact with and have been witnessing to has been attending a large IFB church here in the Murfreesboro area. He had come to know the Lord during a service that was run by the Billy Graham program. He was saved several years ago and wanted to be baptized. The leadership in this church who visited him told him and his wife that they questioned the validity of his salvation. The reasons given were that he had made a decision under the ministry of Billy Graham and that Billy Graham was a false prophet. He was taken aback by the things coming from this pastor's mouth, and when the pastor got even more insistent that the man "make sure of his salvation" he ordered the pastor out of his home. He's now a member of the World Outreach Church, a very well-known non-denominational church here in Murfreesboro. Since he joined there he has led four people to the Lord, has been baptized, and is being trained on how to be an SS teacher. He was surprised by the hatefulness and dishonesty that came from the pastor's mouth, and I have to say that I don't blame him. Yes, we should be ones to earnestly contend for the faith as told in Jude 1:3. Still, we are to speak the TRUTH in love...not mix our opinions with scripture to fit with our own ideology These are just two instances. Why is it that Christians are becoming so hateful and deceptive in their presentation of the Gospel? Why is it that many of them don't try to present Christ in such a way that others humbly and willingly come to church? I find this a very disturbing trend.

My mother has been making these for years. When I was in my early teen years, Mom started making them every week. We loved these Jello cakes, especially during the summer months. We'd take them to church for dinners and fellowships. They were a big hit. Mom used a wooden spoon, using the handle part to poke the holes, evenly spaced throughout the cake. She would always top it with whipped cream, sometimes flavored the same as the Jello used in the cake. If you've never tried one of these, give it a go! I'm sure you'll love it.

Well, I can tell you now that this isn't going to be a popular opinion here, but, here goes anyhow. Let me preface the statement with this. I love and use the KJV in my preaching, teaching, and writing, and it's my Bible of choice because I believe it to be the preserved Word of God. Still, I'm not so rigid that I try to destroy other translations, and in doing so, the Christian standing of others. I won't try to limit and tell the Holy Spirit what he can and cannot use. Philippians 1:15-18 leads me to believe that if the statements about the MV's trying to destroy the Sovereignty and Lordship of Christ, Christ is still being preached. Paul was happy that even though some were preaching Christ with ulterior motives Christ was still being preached. Now, onto the task at hand. I see nothing wrong with the young man's hair except that it's unkempt. Who in the world determines what is long and what isn't? I see no Biblical layout for what is long and what isn't. And, if we go back through the church fathers we find that many of them had long hair. The hypocrisy of some of these preachers, teachers, and laymen in trying to impose their OPINIONS as the Word of God really angers me. I grew up in the IFB movement and saw the hypocrisy, and when I questioned these pastors and teachers on these subjects, I was labeled as a heretic, unsaved, and many other things. They never answered the questions asked but tried to change the subject much as the Scribes and Pharisees of old did. Is there anywhere in the Scripture that tells us to try to alienate, destroy, and otherwise other brothers and sisters as heretics or untrustworthy just because they are not Baptist? No, there isn't. There is a lot of great Scriptural teaching out there that doesn't come from the Baptist realm. It's a shame that some pastors, teachers, and laypeople are so militant that they try to negate Biblical teachings from others. I was going to apologize for the "rant," but, I don't believe there is a reason to do so. Why in the world would we care what FBCH does...it's their church. Yes, the do influence others, but, again, I see no reason to diss them. There's nothing wrong with what they did. There's no proof that any of this was unscriptural, and people like Allen Domelle, David Cloud, et al, are nothing but pharisaical malcontents that try to set themselves up on a pedastile to be worshipped by the blind. They have some good information at times, so I don't block them, but, I surely do take a lot of what they say with a grain of salt.

We've had our share show up here, too.

Our church has seen an uptick in Covid as well. To make it worse, my wife's place of employment has also seen an uptick. We use D3, vitamins C, E, and Elderberry. We're praying for everyone this year. We lost a cousin last month where Covid-19 was a contributing factor. With my severe asthma and restrictive lung disease, I can't afford another go around with it. The last one came close to killing me.

What does that have to do with anything, Morales? You seem to bring these items to the forums and then complain when people question you about them. Either that or you avoid the questions and play the victim. This isn't good, brother. if we're Christians we are to "love one another" as Christ has loved us.

This evening we're having the last of the spaghetti that my wife made last night. It's got a wonderful, thick meat sauce that has onions, green peppers, garlic, salt, and pepper in it. With this, we're having part of a garlic bread loaf we picked up from Walmart. It's so great to have some foods that will last two or three meals so that I don't have to cook so many nights. Tomorrow is going to be a LONG day with me going to physical therapy at 7 am, then to be evaluated for new hearing aids at eleven, thirty-five miles away at 11 am. I need to come home in between and take the dogs out for a walk and potty break. Then, by the time I get home..around 1:30 pm, I will have to start getting ready for men's Bible Study at "The Door" church in Unionville, Tennessee. Many of the men from the Bible study that we had in the Cowboy Church movement are going to this with one of the men who graduated from the Ministry Certificate Development Program with the AFCC (America Fellowship of Cowboy Churches) is the one who is leading them. He and I started the program together back in 2020. I didn't get to finish, as I contracted Covid both August beginning sessions, knocking me out for the final two years. So, tomorrow evening will probably be Tomato Basil soup.

You have no idea who I am, nor whether I'm a leader or not. One thing I DON'T do is constantly worry about what other churches are doing, how much they pay their people, what benefits or parking spaces the pastor of another church receives, etc. I'm not here constantly bashing Baptist churches or their ministries. And I don't become defensive because someone disagrees with me. As I have stated about myself ever since I joined nearly 3 years ago, I am very direct and will continue to be so. And, as I have stated many times, if my responding to your posts, especially the ones that are so negative and derogatory, you always have that option of putting me on ignore. We should be trying to encourage pastors and those involved in ministry who frequent this site. It seemed for a while that you were heading in a more positive direction in your posts, and we all really seemed to enjoy and respond in kind. Hope you have a great Lord's Day, brother.

Most aren't doing it for entertainment. And to be honest TGL, you spend more time worrying about and questioning what others are doing in their own churches. I've seen SOME mention, at times, about the lost, but these have been few and far between. Nobody is questioning whether you believe people who aren't Baptist can be or are saved. I don't know where you got the impression they were.

Why there is confusion on “End Times” among Baptist.
BrotherTony replied to John Young's topic in End Times/Bible Prophecy
I think Jerry already posted that. But thanks for the clarification. Still, that's not correct. I believe Jerry has given an explanation of this before if I'm not mistaken.- 49 replies

That would be great. When I know we're going down that way I will let you know.

Those names sound so familiar, but, I don't know why. We're praying for all involved with the passing of this servant of the Lord.
