Members Doc H Posted January 13, 2007 Members Posted January 13, 2007 AMEN By the way... Doc H, how do I deal with Traditionalist Catholics? They seem to know everything about their beliefs. Itl, I would say with great difficulty. They are so religious that it takes a long time of Bible Study to show them the truth, assuming they are willing to search the scriptures with you. If not, then pray, pray and pray. A brother and I are currently doing just that with a very lovely, young Catholic couple. There house is full of statues of Mary and 'Saint's' and they are very zealous of God, but not according to knowledge (Rom 10). Quote

I am sure that they know their beliefs but how well do they know the scriptures. As the Catholic learns the truth of scripture they will see that God has a different plan. Then the question will be do they want to believe God or man. Quote
Members ltl Posted January 13, 2007 Author Members Posted January 13, 2007 They love quoting their church "fathers" for instance. But speaking of their traditions, I am shocked that baptismal regeneration had creeped into the NT church as early as AD80. Quote
Members bibletotingunslinger Posted January 13, 2007 Members Posted January 13, 2007 I have been called Protestant by Protestants, Catholics and Mormons and Athiests. If Protestants knew the real history of church's they would all become Baptists. But I know many who I suspect are saved so I try not to ruffle their feathers. Quote
Members ltl Posted January 13, 2007 Author Members Posted January 13, 2007 Well they call Baptists "Protestants" because Baptist history has been largely wiped out by the RCC during the Inquisition. Clear historical records only existed after the Reformation-era. This is made worse by the RCC falsely branding early Baptists Gnostics etc. Quote
Members Tim Posted January 13, 2007 Members Posted January 13, 2007 According to the common definition of protestant it is easy to understand why we Baptist are called protestant, however I know historically we are not. Main Entry: 1prot·es·tant Pronunciation: 'prä-t&s-t&nt, 2 is also pr&-'tes- Function: noun Etymology: Middle French, from Latin protestant-, protestans, present participle of protestari 1 capitalized a : any of a group of German princes and cities presenting a defense of freedom of conscience against an edict of the Diet of Spires in 1529 intended to suppress the Lutheran movement b : a member of any of several church denominations denying the universal authority of the Pope and affirming the Reformation principles of justification by faith alone, the priesthood of all believers, and the primacy of the Bible as the only source of revealed truth; broadly : a Christian not of a Catholic or Eastern church Quote
Members IM4given Posted January 13, 2007 Members Posted January 13, 2007 I am sure that they know their beliefs but how well do they know the scriptures. As the Catholic learns the truth of scripture they will see that God has a different plan. Then the question will be do they want to believe God or man. Thoroughly indoctrinated Roman Catholics who have received all of their education through Parochial Schools as mandated by the Pope since the 1950s, have been taught that the Book of Traditions is more important than the Holy Bible. However, the Catholic Holy Bible that they have will have all of the same scriptures used to teach salvation, but most likely they have never even read them. I went to 2 years of Parochial School as a child, but had to drop out when my parents could not afford the tuition. The easiest ones to rescue from Roman Catholicism are the ones who have not been to Parochial School and only attend church on the High Holy Days, such as Christmas and Easter. A agree with the poster who stated that you can't remain a Catholic after you have received Salvation, because the RCC is a false church and you have to deny the catechism if you believe the Bible.
