Have you ever wondered who first thought of the idea of eating roots? "Hey, lookie here, a big, fat root - boy, that looks yummy!" Now, I'm glad they did, but what prompted someone to be the first person to take a bite out of it?

Oh, well, I just daydreaming until quitting time.

Well that's my question about milk. "Hey Jebediah, come on over here and drink this white stuff I found in the cow!"

I just have to ask this. What is in poke salad ?:lol

After reading that article I see that poke salad is synonomous with poke weed. I always thought that poke salad was a salad with poke weed in it. :lol

Almost but not quite - poke salat is what you make from poke weeds. First you have to pick the leaves when they are little small shoots. Then the young pokeweed leaves must be boiled three times to reduce the toxin, discarding the water after each boiling. The result is known as poke salit, or Poke salad, and is occasionally available commercially. You can season them with bacon drippings or hog jowl if you want to. We always ate them early in the sring time, and it was considered like a "tonic" against what ever might be ailing you. :hungry:
