I just thought about this...I have learned that the more I struggle to get closer to God or to amend my sinful ways and renew my mind through the Holy Spirit, the more the stinking devil will shoot his fiery darts (e.g., lust, malicious co-workers, slander) at me. I like to praise God because I know that I must be doing something right otherwise such spiritual onslaught from the devil (the father of all lies) wouldn't be coming my way. And regardless of the spiritual attacks that come my way - I know that the battle has already been won, because greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.

Love,
Madeline

Strengthening our spiritual nature is alot like physical and/or mental exercise. The more we do it the stronger we get. To get strong physically we know that we need to eat right (i.e. healthy eating and avoiding junky foods with their empty calories), keep clean, and organize our exercise patterns in order for it to do the most good.

Our spiritual nature needs the very same thing. However, this nature needs one more thing. We have to get away from a me-centered mentality and develop a philosophy of serving God by doing for others. That's only a suggestion. Each person needs to find their own best "fit".

The very foundation of our spiritual strengthening program needs to be based upon God's Grace. We call upon Him to give us the grace to serve Him. Without this first we have a very shaky footer, and our whole structure will come to nought. Few things are more frustrating than engaging in a program only to have it fail.

Madeline, you are right. the more that we try to live for Christ the more opposition we will encounter. But Christ gives us the abiltiy to overcome temptation. As long as you and I are in this body you and I both know that when we get in the flesh that is when we will sin.
I asked Jesus to keep fresh in mind the awesomeness of His grace. That encourages me not to do anything that will shame Him.

And don't feel that you're alone in this, Madeline. Although we sometimes feel we're the only ones under attack, we know our brothers and sisters in Christ have been or are going through the same things. You want to lean on Christ first, but don't forget to lean on your fellow Christians as well.

Praising the Lord when the enemy attacks is very helpful too!:clap::clap::clap:

Isaiah 54:17 - No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
