He was doing his subtraction page in his work book (100 problems per page) and was getting close to being done when I went in to check on him. When I looked at his work, he had been adding instead of subtracting. We made him erase it al and start over. While he did complain a little, we told him he needs to pay attention to the directions. He did the work correctly pretty quickly.

Quite common actually. When I taught I saw that happen, and of course my girls have all done it more than once. I always tell them to make sure and read the signs.

Our 14 year old still makes this type of mistake from time to time. He gets in a rush and just thinks he knows what to do without bothering to read the directions or pay attention to the math signs.

Can't tell you how many times that has happened here! It is worse now b/c Erin is learning how to multiply, so that is just one more sign for her to watch! LOL
