I am attempting to make a 9-patch quilted bedspread. I have all the 9-patch blocks made and I now need to make the strips that go between each block. In other words, there will be a strip of a neutral color all around each block to separate each block from each other. The blocks will be in rows going from the head to the foot. Does anyone have any tips or tricks they want to share? I have never done this before and could use some info. Thanks!!! CJP56

Sew one row at a time. Figure out how wide you would like your solid strips to be. Then cut them the lenght of your patch. sew patch to the strip then repeat till one row is done. then sew that strip to the one above it/solid horizontal strip/ and below it. Keep repeating this till front is done.

first row--solid horizontal strip
second row--- print /vertical solid/print /solid/print
repeat.....

Be very careful to keep all seem allowances the same or things will be off. set a guide(draw a line) on your machine to help you keep it straight. set out in an open space how you would like it to look and sew from that. it helps if someone hands you the pieces so you don't have to keep getting up.

all this I have learned from helping my mom sew wedding quilts for my sisters. Happy quilting!
