For some reason my computer reboots on its own sometimes. Before I can enter my password to start-up my desktop, the computer reboots and asks if I want to begin Windows manually, etc. Are there any computer wizzes here that know why this occurs?

Love,
Madeline

Sounds to me like there is a conflict in the startup. I am no expert, but the last time I had this happen I was told to start in safe mode. Once booted up, I had to figure out what drivers were conflicting.

When I worked in an office, the computer of the woman behind me kept rebooting. The experts replace the hard drive, the motherboard, the CPU, but it still kept rebooting. It mostly did it when she was not working on it, like when she was at lunch. It used to click as it checked the memory, and I used to hear it clicking while she was at lunch and when I was working late. They never did find the cause of it, until they replaced all of our PCs.

I saw a list of practical jokes to pull on office mates. One of them was the coding for a shortcut that would reboot windows. The first suggestion was to put it on the desktop, and change the icon to IE. they said if you wanted to be really mean, you could put it in the start-up folder.

(I can't remember where I saw the list, but the only other prank I remember was to grab a screen shot of the desktop-with icons, remove the icons and replace the wallpaper with the image grabbed from the desktop. The icons would be there, but only as part of the wallpaper image, so the user would click and grab and nothing would happen.)

Some people get mean when they pull jokes on those who they call friends. How rotten some people will treat their friends. :saint

yeah, my computer is rebooting itself too. my virus scanner found a trojan horse. This is the second one I had in one month. I don't even know where I'm getting it from.
