The familiar saying goes "Opposites attract", another says "Birds of a feather flock together" . I think that Birds of a feather flock together has more meaning than Opposites attract. It says in the bible do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. So yeah, Birds of a feather do flock together, only in science, do opposites attract. Just a thought.

From what I recall during my lifetime, the "opposites attract" saying has been mostly used with regards to male/female relationships. Of course, far more often than not, if they are truly opposites and yet find some attraction, it doesn't last...because they are so different.

The "birds of a feather flock together" I've heard used most often for types of people, whether in regards to, criminals, Christians, Mormons, races, ethnic groups, sports lovers, etc. "Like" people tend to "flock together", which is why we see "black churches", self-segregation in cafeterias (this often includes various races, as well as sexes, along with some religions or even athletes and the like).
