The Post That Will Not Stand Long Here (Tithing)

It seems nobody likes to hear the truth anymore, as it hits too close to home.

Maybe why this generation has so many preachers behind their pulpits that preach their own opinions and traditions rather than what the Word of God actually says.

2 Timothy 4:2-3 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

People no longer want to hear what the Bible says.  Instead, they want to hear what their parents and grandparents taught them.  The Word of God is secondary to tradition.

If the Word of God doesn't line up with their way of thinking, their thinking is to dismiss the Word of God.  How dare the Word of God govern what they are to believe to be truth!

pointing out to Galations that she has not provided Scripture to prove Melchizedek is Jesus and that she has no Scripture that proves Her claim is a personal assault? Really?

Wow!! Please excuse me while I continue to post truth.

It is not what you post about scripture, SFIC.  It is and has always been, on OB, your attitude.  It is a bad one.  How many times do myself and others, have to say it?  I am done here.  Good night.  Now, be sure you have the last word.  Insecure people always do.

There comes a point in any discussion, arguement, or fight when it is time to back off and take it up another day when heads are cooler.

God bless,

I do find it ironic that candlelight would accuse me of "personal assault," "being rude," and "being prideful."

And then she posts the following personal assault that is both rude and prideful:

The fact is, my posts have not been rude, nor prideful.  Nor have I personally assaulted anyone in this thread.

As I said, if the message cannot be disproven by Scripture, the next best thing to do is to attack the messenger.

It would be much simpler if they would

a ) admit that there is no Scriptural command for us to tithe our money
or
b ) provide the Scripture that says we are to tithe our money.

*oh, and for the record... I am very much secure in my stance on the tithe.  Otherwise I would not be posting at all in the tithe threads.

Frankly, there are good men on both sides of this issue (meaning, in general, in churches across America).   Insults and pride are not appropriate for this topic.  Many Bible scholars have agreed that tithing is still appropriate in today's church.  Some may not.  However, tithing is not a far-fetched idea, and has quite a lot of Scriptural merit behind it.   Thus, the thread is locked, because it seems like whenever this topic comes up, people have trouble acting like grown-ups and agreeing to disagree and allowing it to stay friendly.    It is perfectly alright for good men to disagree on topics like this.  It is not worth anger.

Merry Christmas!
