Members No Nicolaitans
Despite his denials, I think this Methodist pastor knew exactly what he was doing. The Methodist denomination is pandering to the gay movement and has been for some time. _________________________________________________________________________________ A Tennessee pastor says he didn't intend to start a controversy when he put a message on his church's marquee last weekend that said, "Jesus had two dads and he turned out just fine." Many people have interpreted the message, which refers to God and Joseph, to be a statement about gay and lesbian parents. But Bill Campbell, pastor of St. John's United Methodist Church in Nashville, told CP that wasn't his intention. "For me it was a very simple statement affirming families and children who are in situations where they have multiple parents or there's a divorce or a death, where there's family strain, that type of thing, to affirm that they are daughters and sons of God, and using the example of Jesus in that regard," he said. Campbell says he saw a sign with the same message on the Internet and decided to put it up on the St. John's marquee at the end of a church yard sale on Saturday. By Monday he was giving interviews to local news media. Despite Campbell's intentions, the sign has sparked a debate among some social media users. Members John81
Unless the pastor is totally out of touch, or incapable of rational thought, there is no way he put up that saying without knowing what the meaning would be to virtually anyone reading it. The Methodist church has spent millions of dollars on ad campaigns with the "I'm okay, you're okay" message, making it very clear they welcome anyone with any beliefs and any "lifestyle" in their doors with no judgment. Some individual Methodist churches have been very open to homosexuals, even to the point of advocating the "normalcy" of homosexuality and speaking out for their "rights" and agreeing to "marry" homosexuals "couples". This pastor is trying to promote homosexual acceptance and play dumb at the same time. To the broader point, the fact is Jesus only had one human dad, that was his stepdad Joseph, who was married to His mother, Mary. A traditional family per se. Members JerryNumbers
Most of the Methodist pander to this world. Years ago I thought the Methodist were biblical, sad to say I found out there were not, even the structure of their churches are not biblical. Members John81
I grew up attending Methodist Sunday school. As far as I can remember, I never heard the Gospel message, never heard of the need to be born again, never heard of anything relating to the end times. What I did learn was that not only was the devil out to get us, but God was just waiting for us to do something wrong so He could nail us. I also learned I had to be good to go to heaven because if I was bad I would go to hell where the devil lives. So much of my early childhood I was scared of God as well as the devil. I was also afraid because I didn't know just how good I had to be to go to heaven, which left me wondering every time I made a mistake or did something wrong if that meant I would go to hell. I wanted to be right with God, I wanted to go to heaven, I "believed" in Jesus (the best I could with what I knew), and I would sometimes read some from the RSV Bible the Methodist church gave me when I entered first grade, and I had a big children's Bible that used the KJB wording (though I knew nothing about translations or versions back then) which I would read and look at the pictures and try to understand. The first time I ever heard of the end times, the return of Christ, and then the message of salvation, it all really hit me and I was born again in Christ. Strangely enough, this occurred in an Assembly of God church I attended with my girlfriend because she wanted to go to their night service. Sadly, I know people who have attended a Methodist church their entire lives and they know exceedingly little about the Bible and nothing about biblical salvation. Members swathdiver
President Bush and Rush Limbaugh are Methodists. They are just as lost as atheists, in desperate need of the Savior. First I noticed too was that Christ had but one Father and it wasn't Joseph. Sad but expected from folks who not the Gospel and live in darkness, void of wisdom and understanding. Members irishman
What would you expect from a church that has women preachers, and some of them lesbians?

Bush the Second is a Methodist because that's the way his wife wanted it. From what I read, he had been in another church (not one of the better ones) but when he and Laura married his wife was Methodist and wanted to remain attending Methodist church so that's how and why he went Methodist. Not surprising that his wife has constantly pulled him even further to the liberal side, both in terms of politics and Christianity. Her helper in this has been his mother, who has successfully pulled both her husband and her sons into being more liberal.
Members JerryNumbers
Plus what do you expect from a church that has such hierarchy similar to the RCC. The local Methodist church in town had a woman bishop that tells them who their preacher will be. If they happen not like the preacher she assigns them & she wants him to stay, he stays. Bush left his family's Episcopal Church to join his wife's United Methodist Church. He did not lead, his wife did the leading.
