This came up in our Sunday school class today.

It's very telling that this pastor spoke the truth and virtually everyone is attacking him for it. Even supposed Christians are denying what was said is true.

Even Perry, the candidate he was speaking up for, the candidate so many have proclaimed as a solid, true Christian who will stand his ground, has said he doesn't agree that Mormonism isn't Christian and is a cult. By that one statement Perry is putting forth that he believes Mormonism is Christian.

From what I've read of President GW Bush, and his own words, I'm not sure if he's actually saved or not, but at one point he was asked if he believed Jesus was the only way and he had the fortitude to say yes! True, after much tongue lashing from his mom and wife, one of which called Billy Graham so he would talk with GW and Billy told GW he shouldn't say such things even if it is true (what true pastor or evangelist of Christ would say such a thing???) and GW backed off from making such comments. Eventually Bush went so far as to declare that Islam, and eventually virtually all other religions, are equal with Christianity and that all lead to heaven.

Anyway, back to the point, at least for a moment in time, GW actually took a stand. The first time Perry is put on the spot for the sake of Christ (publically at least, in this campaign) and he bows to political correctness; preferring the favor of men to that of God.

It hard for a wanttobe presidential candidate to call any religion in America a cult while in the heat of the campaign. Now just a few years back it would have been OK to call the Mormon faith a cult.

It has not been that many years back when the church of Christ was deemed a cult after being founded by Mr. Campbell.

It seems it takes only a little time for any regilion to become acceptable in America, shorty even The church of Sociology will be acceptable in the worldly circles.

The professing Christian candidates wouldn't have to call Mormonism a cult, they could simply have agreed with the pastor that Mormonism isn't Christianity; but they won't do that. By making statements saying Mormonism is Christianity they are elevating Mormonism and putting them equal with true Bible believing Christians. They are setting up some folks to accept Mormonism as a legitimate way to get right with God and be assured of heaven for eternity.

There is a vast difference between saying one is willing to respect anothers religion even if they don't agree with it, and making statements that elevates a false religion to equality with biblical Christianity.
