It seems an elderly widow that's a member of our church's daughters husband shot himself yesterday evening at about 8:00 PM, they live in another county north of us and is in a hospital in Little Rock some 140 miles from us. Not certain on the exact time, but they are rather certain the gunshot was self inflicted.

He is now being kept alive on life support, but the signs are not good. The doctors seem to think that this morning his kidneys are failing and other organs will soon follow.

Anyway you look at something like this its bad and I can't imagine how families come though such drear things, unless they do know God and has His Son as their Savior, even them its still must be difficult.

Edited to add:

I found out that when this man was in the 7th grade he came home from school one afternoon finding his mother dead, she had killed herself.

We'll pray that his condition (physically and spiritually) improves and fervently pray for the loved ones who are suffering, that they may draw closer to the Lord and seek comfort in Him.

He has died, & all of the family are on their way home. I know it will be a very long trip, & the next few days will be rough on all of them.

This is a good example of a Christina woman marrying an unbeliever. She tried to do all the right things, yet the fathers influence seemed to have the most influence on the children. And the children don't see attending church as being an important part of life. So most of their children, grand children, are unchurched.

Plus its been a hard marriage, don't really know how hard, the grandmother only said, the latter years have been just a bit better. He is 63 & had some health issues that slowed him down, thus making their marriage a bit better. That happens to many of this type of men, many times grandparents & even the wife will interpret the husband becoming a better man, when the husband is unable to run wild as he once did because of health issues.

Last night they had visitations at the funeral home. The town has a population of under 2,000 people I suppose, & 500 + people at the bare minimum came by. Today at the funeral services I suppose there was 205 + people.

Obituary

The pastor, an elderly man gave a pretty good heart felt message, & I know there were many there that needed it. Had 7 members of the Army present & full Military Honors were given at the grace side services. The taps being given by a bugler sure is a sad sound to behold in a cemetery on pleasant Saturday afternoon with the sun shinning brightly with a slight breeze blowing.

I suppose when all the hype stops will be when it will hit the wife, son, & daughter along with grandchildren.
