Members LindaR Posted October 18, 2011 Author Members Posted October 18, 2011 UGH, drops as long as you live. If I had to do that I would just be thankful that they had something to treat the problem with, & I'm sure I would get tried of using them, yet, like my blood pressure meds, I keep taking them each day. And probably will keep taking them until I die & or until my mind forgets such things. In 2003, I had a laser treatment for glaucoma....it wasn't effective, so I had to resort back to the drops. I can live with only using drops once a day...but this 4 times , 3 times a day etc. drives me buggy. They did a good job of fitting my glasses, they work great except for one thing, they're not the least bit of good when I'm computing, so I do this without glasses. How long did you have to wait before your doctor gave you a script for glasses? One dr. says 2 weeks...another says a lot longer than 2 weeks. I'm going to make a guess that it will be the end of November before the doc will write me a script for glasses. He said my vision has improved alot since the surgery. I purchased a pair of readers +1.50 at Walmart, but they definitely are not for driving and computering. Just for reading and other close-up work (I do alot of crocheting). Quote
Members JerryNumbers Posted October 20, 2011 Members Posted October 20, 2011 I had to wait about 2 month & my glasses seems to fit me quite well. At my one month appointment they said my eye had a bit of clouding on that bag that holds the lens, them at two moths they said it had cleared up & checks my eyes. They mailed my glasses to me about two weeks later. Quote

They mailed my glasses to me about two weeks later. I have heard of that happening and that they use a laser to clear that up. The mother of one of our church members (an 89 year old lady) had cataract surgery 2 years ago and that happened after 2 years and they used a laser to clear up that cloudiness. I asked my doctor about that and he said that happens in about 25-30% of cataract surgery patients. It's amazing how different your vision is after cataract surgery. I only need those readers for close up work. I don't need them for computering. I find myself "subconsciously" pushing up my glasses (which aren't there) on my nose. I think they like to wait until your eyes are totally healed before writing a script for a new pair. I guess the time varies for each person. Quote
Members JerryNumbers Posted October 22, 2011 Members Posted October 22, 2011 Yes, I've noticed, I to will try to push my glasses up to, when they are not there, makes me feel silly! And right on, if my had stayed cloudy they would have used the laser, glad they didn't have to. They did tell me that sometimes later after this surgery that it can cloud up, & many refer to that as having cataract a 2nd time. As for computing, my new glasses are worthless, but OK for everything else. At this distance my left eyes see's perfectly, my right eye see's everything fuzzy. Quote
Members LindaR Posted October 23, 2011 Author Members Posted October 23, 2011 Jerry, did you have cataracts in both eyes, or just one? I am basically right-eyed...the vision in my left eye improved but not to the point of 20/20 vision. I am more far-sighted in the left eye, but I believe that the surgery made me a bit less far-sighted. The readers I purchased at Walmart are useless for driving and computering. I use them when I do my needlework and reading. However, since the bible I have is giant print, I don't need any glasses to read it. I need them for reading print 8 point or smaller..Eventually, I will need those bifocals. Quote
Members JerryNumbers Posted October 25, 2011 Members Posted October 25, 2011 I just had it on my left eye. I can see far off pretty good with my right eye, yet up close everything is very fuzzy. My left eye see's real good close up, yet far off things is fuzzy. Quote
Members JerryNumbers Posted June 20, 2012 Members Posted June 20, 2012 Today I finally find out what the problem is, seems not to have nothing to do with my cataract surgery on the left eye, according to what the man said todayVitreous Detachment & Floaters Eye floaters He's have me to have I believe is called a eye field test, I may have that wrong, he said this would find if I had a loss of vision in any particular area, after that I will see him again. I understand there nothing can be done for this. Quote
Members LindaR Posted June 21, 2012 Author Members Posted June 21, 2012 I have those visual fields tests twice a year because of my glaucoma. It's called a Humphries Visual Fields and it checks your peripheral vision. Quote

And yes, unfortunately, nothing can be done (from what we were told). Sorry to confirm bad news Bro. Jerry. Quote

Members JerryNumbers Posted June 21, 2012 Members Posted June 21, 2012 I don't quite understand all of this, its new to me, but it seems a glop of that jelly like stuff is stuck on something in the back of my eye. Mine does not really move around, stays in the same area. Its off center to my left side, it started out being kind of a round looking halo, them turned into a dark spot, with it being just a bit cloudy in that area, depending on the light. Its a bit aggravating, but at least it does not aggravated me to death! Seems I'm at the perfect age for it, 65! Quote

My wife has 4 floaters in one eye, and they drive her up the wall. Quote
