Members JerryNumbers Posted December 24, 2010 Members Posted December 24, 2010 It is the right direction, yet there be few that wants to head in that direction, they, most professing Christians thinks, I can do the America way, American Dream, plus I can have Jesus too. Can we? Few can. Why? Because I'm going to live and accomplish all the things I'm capable of, and make my father & mother proud of me, plus doing this I can fulfill all of my wants, and dreams. The other night I was read about a man, born in small town America, designed air planes, was the big chief over building some major United States war planes. They said, this man was ashamed of his father and mother, ashamed of his raising, ashamed of how poor his family was, and he was determined to show them that he could make much money, gain high position, and have what he wanted. I have such a friend that I grew up with and was one of my best friends, if not best friend, he had 8 brothers and sisters, they had little compared to many, yet had plenty of food mostly because the raised their own food, of course that took work. He did not rise to the position of the man I spoke of above, yet he too showed everyone what he was, what he could do, by making high grades and getting an education. Sad, he left the Christian life behind, throughout the years visited his parents very little, on his 3 or 4 wife, that looks to be younger than my daughter. No, few of want to die to self, and let Christ live though us, Paul said it so good. Ga 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Most professing Christians live for self, while claiming to the world they live for Christ. Thank about what Paul's goal was, yet even more than that what Christ the Saviors goal was. Then we need to compare what we live for, to what they lived for, doing so honestly. Like one man said, we teach our children how to make a living, even sending them to college at great cost, yet do we teach them to pray, to worship God. Then when they do not serve the lord our God, we wonder, where did we go wrong. The best thing we can do, is to live the will of God, do what He has set for us to do. Yet really, if we do that, them we will not reach those worldly goals, nor the American Dream, that we're capable of reaching. Yes, even us Christians look on what a person has, who they are, position in society, and if a person has not reached such goals and are not trying to reach such goals, we will call them a fanatic Christian, prOBably the same thing we would have called John the Baptist, Jesus, Jesus' 12, and Paul, if we had been living in those days. We love to rub shoulders with those that seem to have the best this world offers, and seems to have the best Jesus offers. sadly what is pointed out in Matthew 7:21-23, will be the fate of many.
